A truly fantastic effort by all concerned to make Sunday's May Fair such a brilliant family day out. Read about it here https://www.dulwichprepcranbrook.org/all- the-fun-of-the-fa…/

Let's Go Ride A Bike! We are so lucky that the fabulous Friends of Dulwich Prep organise Bikeability sessions for our children. There are spaces available this Sunday, 19th May. Bikeability is the replacement for the cycling proficiency test. The national standard is a three-level cycling training scheme. Level 1 is a great starting point to learn / practice bike control in a traffic free environment and is aimed at pupils in Year 4/5. Level 2 is an introduction to road rid...ing, delivered on quiet roads but in real traffic conditions. As a guide Level 2 is aimed at pupils in Year 5/6 who have already achieved Level 1. In exceptional circumstances confident Year 6 riders can begin at this level if they can confidently perform all Level 1 skills (i.e. signal, look behind and fully control their bike). Level 3 incorporates busy roads, traffic lights, roundabouts and other advanced road features. Level 3 is for confident riders only and children must have already achieved Level 2. As a guide this is offered to riders in Year 7 and above. Call in to the school office or email Friends@dulwichprepcranbrook.org for details

We were delighted to welcome Medical Detection Dogs to school this week. The children loved meeting Poppy and finding out about the wonderful work of this worthwhile charity. We are very proud that we have been fundraising for them at our May Fair.

A superb display of maypole and country dancing by our brilliant Reception, which was thoroughly enjoyed by our visiting grandparents and the residents of Evernden House. After some energetic dancing by both children and grandparents, everyone sat down to enjoy a delicious tea together. It was a lovely afternoon.

We laugh a lot, so we learn a lot. Our Nursery and Reception classes are based in Nash House, where we nurture happy, independent children who love learning and feel confident expressing themselves. Come and join us!

We are looking forward to our Senior Schools' Fair here at Dulwich Prep Cranbrook tomorrow, Wednesday 8th May from 5.00 - 8.00 pm. There are a wide range of senior schools attending. It is the perfect 'one-stop shop' to meet key staff and learn more about options for your child. All welcome.

Year 6 have been conducting a biodiversity study on the Wye Downs, and then an environmental study of the Great Stour. It was great to get out and explore the glorious countryside.

Year 8 are working on an exciting project this term, inspired by the American contemporary ceramicist Alice Ballard. Having suffered two close family bereavements Alice was drawn to nature and signs of spring, and seed pods in particular. Year 8 have been creating their own seed pods, which are now being spray painted using a compressor. We look forward to seeing the completed project, which will be displayed as a legacy to Dulwich as our Year 8 move on to their senior schools.

Very well done Arthur, on being awarded your Blue Peter badge for the letter you wrote after climbing Mount Snowdon. Wow!

Can you eat a whole doughnut from the string before it falls off? Or squirt the water pistol to move the cup or knock over the bottle with your elephant head (aka a pair of tights) All this and more at the boarders' Challenge Night on Friday. It was brilliant fun, all topped off with a yummy BBQ.
