Translated from Sanskit, Amrut means "nectar of the gods". Amrut is listed in the top 8 whiskeys in the world. It has an oaky punch, opening the door to decadent hints of coffee and cocoa. The finish is long, smooth and satisfying, a combination of citrus and spice. We loves ours on the rocks! . . #dumlondon #ontherocks #whiskey #amrutfusion #drinkinstyle

User

We were here tonight and what a lovely experience, the food was amazing... So tasty and had a good chilli heat to all the dishes. I loved the chicken wings and yogurt fried patis... Figure licking delicious!!! Best part was the all the food came out piping hot. Definitely coming back!!!

User

This is one of those places which is full of surprises from the moment you enter and walk down the steps. Big welcome from Gopi the manager and the cave- like feel with quirky pictures on the multi coloured walls feels like you've been transformed back to a part of India. The chicken wings are very spicy but amazingly tasty. The mutton fry with the triangle of paratha was the best I have tasted , even my vegetarian friend was tempted.! The main course lamb shank biryani with the pastry top was served steaming with eclectic accompaniments of fried bindi on raita and a spicy boiled egg with a fragrant sauce. Beware of the lamb shank bone in the biryani which adds to the experience and awesome flavour. Topped off finally with the simple milky dessert Ragbi which was soothing, calming and delicious. I wish Dhruv and his excellent team all the best and if your in Soho you must visit this restaurant as it's going to get busier and busier. I can't wait to travel down again and take more friends and family to experience this treasure.

User

The Dahi Kebab and Chicken Biryani were both delicious! The latter was perfectly spiced, with the accompanying Mirch Unda Salan adding extra heat and flavour. The dish also came with a bowl of Raita - a lovely, refreshing yoghurt to take the edge off when/if necessary. I also enjoyed the various artwork around the restaurant and the hip-hop music was an added bonus! Great experience!

User

Lovely place with delicious food...being vegetarian enjoyed all the veggie food. Small menu but good 👍🏻

User

Loved the authenticity of the Secunderabad biryani experience, dum pukht and all. Might it not also be a good idea to offer other regional variants of biryani - Sindhi, Avadhi, Mumbai, Afghan etc.? We found the decor interesting but I think the choice of music could possibly be reviewed - the loud hip-hop playing did seem like a seamless match for the clientele. Overall a great experience and looking forward to a repeat!

User

Limited menu but done well, as should be the case with lots of other eateries.

Ideally would have the biryani more spicy but understand that it needs to serve lots of different pallets. Had the Lamb Shank Biryani, enjoyed it.

Highly recommend the mutton fry and chicken wings as starters.

User

Didn't realise we were there for day one of the soft launch. Amazing location, great decor, incredible service and most importantly fantastic food. Never had a biriyani like it (sorry mum). Best of luck guys, you've got a repeat customer here! I'm telling all my friends about Dum!

User

Dhruv, you did an amazing job, we got to taste so many things and they were all just to die for. The cocktail was just right, the starters, especially the prawns, were a delight!!! I can only rave about the food. You have to try it all!!! Definitely coming again next time we are in London!!!!

User

Biryani was great.

Mirch ka salan was awesome

Pattar ke kebab was awesome

Pricing reasonable

Gobi Manchurian was just Ok nothing great

Ambience was nice :)

Will go again

User

Attended the soft launch with some friends. Such tasty authentic Indian food, highly recommend the chicken wings! Biryani was made to perfection and the Rabdi was a great sweet treat. Loved the decoration and pop art, gave the place a great feeling. Thanks to Dhruv and the team, will be shouting about this place to everyone!

User

Great variety of starters/sides and the Biriyanis were delicious and all were with good quality ingredients (we were a large party so we ordered one of each starter and each type of biriyani (seasonal veg; chicken and lamb) to try). The biriyani portions were generous and the 'dum' delicious - we shared biriyani's between two having had starters. The service was very attentive when we arrived (around 7:30pm on Saturday) and my only small point of constructive criticism is that it was slightly less attentive as the evening progressed. That said, the staff were all very pleasant and helpful and cared about our experience - they also asked how we had found everything as we left. We were a mixed group - parents (aged 55+) and adult children (aged 20+) and it was a fun atmosphere and tasty food for all. Would certainly like to go again. The decor and music is quirky and fun!

User

Very disappointed by your biryani. Ordered lamb and chicken to take away. The prices have been hiked so much and quality is going down. Seriously £21 for a biryani??? It made more sense when it was sold for £16. The portion is only suited for 1.5 persons. Never going back again. Biryani is very average now. Used to be very good. I had recommended it to so many friends in the past

User

The Biryani served here is average, the taste is not exceptional and does not stand out. All I could taste was rice and masala, and it was a bit too spicy rather than flavourful. A good authentic Biryani has a good taste balance of onion, saffron and masala, besides the meat/chicken and rice, and this one certainly didn't. I ordered the lamb shank Biryani and the lamb was tender which was good. The Biryani portion size was decent.

The small plates, including Kodi Vepudu wings, pattar kebab, and Andhra prawn fry which I tried, we're all pretty good and tasteful. I would recommend these. My only complaint here was the portion sizes which were really quite small, even for small plates haha.

Overall the service is good, but the place feels a bit cramped since it is small inside.

User

This is overall good place. But few negatives-

1) we booked the table for 8:30. When we reached we were told that it will take another 30 minutes despite booking.

2) service was slow.

3) we were told that they will give complement stuff for all goofup. We were given 2 rrabri for 7 people which was not acceptable.

Food was over all good but it was hot...

User

There was something inherently missing from the taste of the biryani. It was more garam masala oriented rather than anything else. However, the saving grace was the prawn starter!

User

Expensive and not a great place to sit in either!! Premium because it’s near Oxford st? No aircon due to some renovation. Certainly 21 for a biryani is not worth and there are some nicer ones in city at less than half price per portion. May be the lamb shank is making it more expensive ?

I suggest do both lamb and chicken biryani on the bone and reduce the price, makes more sense to pay!

User

Came into DUM this week to celebrate a friend's birthday. Have to say the venue is lovely. Really intimate and we almost had the basement to ourselves, the venue is very trendy and is following a trend set by Dishoom and Roti Chai....

The Biryani itself was nice. Not the best that I have had, but nice, the menu was lacking. There were no options of daal or even a nice basic saucy potato curry. The "Salan" sauce served with the biryani was average and the Raita was really not Raita at all.

What really disappointed me was the fact the "Paratha" was NOT fresh. It was a Ready made frozen Shana Paratha that the cost price is £1 for 5 Parathas in Asda or Tesco but we were charged £2 for one and this is wrong. Real chef-made Parathas are so easy to make so why would you serve up a frozen paratha in a west-end restaurant ?

There was only one option for dessert, so we forced to go elsewhere for dessert.

The one redeeming feature of this restaurant remains the venue itself, for a good Indian head to Dishoom or Chai Ki . Their Biryani's are actually tastier and The a-la-carte menu's there are extensive and delicious.

Will not be returning to Dum Biryani House.

User

Highly disappointed with food ordered from Dum Biryani House via #Ubereats.

Found a hair in our food, it was a man's hair floating in the sauce. So disgusting.

The chicken biryani tasted just average and didn't really like it..

The prawns in coconutsauce were amazing and that is something I would recommend.

Overall I was disappointed not only because of the hair but because of the customer service when I called to report the incident.

User

Have been to Dum Buryani a couple of times and absolute love the atmosphere, the drinks are great and the food is tasty. A couple weeks ago I took a few friends who were visiting from the states and as soon as we walked in they were impressed. The food typically takes about 20/25 mins to prepare but on this occasion we waited an hour for our food and watched later coming tables recieve their food before ours. To make matters worse a friend of mine found a VERY LONG HAIR baked into his Biryani. This practically put the table off of eating their food and instead of accommodating us and apologising the manager offered to take off the service charge. This charge is optional to begin with and personally not a good way to accommodate paying customer. Seriously disappointed and embarrassed by what I thought would be a great suggestion!!!
