A quick post to say a HUGE thank you to all our volunteers and you lovely people who have adopted our gorgeous hounds. After a count up.. we managed to find loving, forever homes for a fantastic 121 dogs in 2018! As always we couldn't run without your continued support. Let's try to keep Karen Farley sane for another year 😘 and fingers crossed for a record breaking 2019 🤞❤💙

Hi everyone! Yesterday we hosted our Christmas Fundraiser at the kennels, where we held stalls and had an agility course for people to try their dogs on. There were many kind donations made in the form of things to sell by lots of our volunteers and supporters.
We counted up all the money once everyone had left and have an incredible grand total of...
£1185.59!
... The money is going to be put towards further kennel improvements such as rescreeding the floors.
Thank you to all of you who helped out or came along, it was great to see so many people and you were all so generous.
Thanks again everyone and Merry Christmas!

Hi all! As Christmas is fast approaching, many supporters are asking for ways they can help Dunrunnin Kennels with all the hard work we are trying to do.
We have organised a Christmas Fundraiser so that everyone who would like to do this can come along! The event takes place on Sunday 16th December from 11am-1pm, just outside the front of the kennels.
Some of the things that will be on offer: teas and coffees, homemade cakes and dog treats, homemade jams and curds, christmas ...scratchcards, christmas raffle (one for hounds, one for humans), handmade collars and an agility course for hounds to try out!
We will be asking for small donations for the teas, coffees and agility, and the other people producing goods to sell are covering their costs and kindly donating profits to Dunrunnin. Some major projects we hope to complete soon are the outside exercise area and re-screeding the kennel floors. There will of course be donation buckets for any other donations people wish to make!
This is also a great opportunity for anyone to come up if they wish to enquire about rehoming a dog or want to meet some of our dogs, so please feel free to come along and have a chat!
If you can't make it and still wish to donate, we have:

Hi everyone! This is Shadow. Shadow came to Dunrunnin about 4 weeks ago and has settled in really well.
He has become a firm favourite with our volunteer walkers and behaves brilliantly on every occasion. He really laps up the human attention.
... He has also been out to meet other breeds and has passed his little dog test with flying colours.
Shadow is a really steady dog and would love for his forever human to come up to the kennels and come and meet him so he can get settled in this cold weather, cuddled up with a family who will love him forever.
If you think you could offer Shadow a home, please get in touch and come visit us :)
Furthermore, ahead of Christmas time, we have updated our Amazon wishlist. Please find it at the following link: http://amzn.eu/4ErkkP3

Well done to all of the hounds that donated with Pet Blood Bank this week! These donations are so valuable to many dogs that are saved by them.

Tongue out Tuesday!!
This is Minnie, here are a few words from her owner:
We adopted Minnie after searching for a dog that would fit in with our long working days. I fell in love with greyhounds when I was researching suitable breeds and my husband fell in love with Minnie the first time we met her.
... She is unquestionably the laziest dog - she loves to sleep and to play with her toys, but she can also still run! She is at her happiest when she is around people and is definitely making the most of her retirement (and our sofa). She has such character and such attitude - she makes us laugh every day. Bringing her home was the best decision we have ever made :)

Meet Bubbles everyone! Bubbles has settled in to Dunrunnin now and we think she is ready to find a home! She is definitely an excitable girl and thinks that even her everyday walk in the woods is the best thing ever!
For this reason she is just the sweetest, happiest little love - she has just turned 3 years old so is looking for a home that she can enjoy the rest of her life with.
She has a pretty face and as much as she loves to play and walk, she likes the cuddles and naps... too.
If you think you could give Bubbles a forever home or any of our other dogs, please pop down or drop us a line!

Sweet Calvin does not ask for much, and as you can see he really loves a bit of human company.
Calvin would love to live out his retirement in an adult only home which is willing to give him the love he deserves. Please get in touch if you think you can give Calvin or any of our other dogs a home!

Say hello to Gus! Gus has been settling in with us for a few months now and we have gotten to know him very well. He is a happy boy with a waggy tail who loves nothing more than meeting new people and going for walks. He is very sociable in the tea hut and on walks he loves discovering new smells and sights. He has been out with a few of our volunteers and is learning to be polite with other breeds, as he gets very excited when meeting them!
One of our volunteers, Becs, taug...ht him how to play fetch too so he enjoys a tennis ball and a human companion to play with!
We think Gus would be a great best buddy for someone who wants this cheeky chap to make them smile everyday.
If you want to give Gus or any of our other dogs a home, please get in touch - all contact details are on our Facebook page!

Hello all!! Since we opened on 1st September 2013, we have been working sedulously to ensure that our kennels have the best conditions possible for our dogs to live in while they wait for their forever home.
A major project that we have been waiting to work on is a large section of our roofing that is not in a great condition and in places, leaks. Phoenix Greyhound Support Group are helping us out and assisting with the fundraising for this, so a big thanks to them!
We are ...asking for your help with any donations, no matter how big or small, to help us repair this part of roofing that will be a massive improvement to our facilities! The link below is a link to our just giving page, and we would welcome any donations no matter how big or small!
We will keep you posted with the progress of this project.

Hi all! We wanted to share this lovely story with you all, about Lydia, who with her Mum, Dad and brother, rehomed 2 of our dogs named Hats and Chloe.
Lydia, who is 8, was kind enough to share with us how much she enjoys reading to her dogs. She said: “I really enjoy reading to my greyhounds Hats and Chloe. I think they enjoy it also. We look forward to our time together. I love my dogs so much.”
... Lydia also sent us over some pictures of her reading to Hats, and she also drew a picture of herself and her dogs.
Greyhounds are great dogs to have with children, due to their calm and loving nature. Many schools and families also believe that children learn to read better with the help of a furry friend that they can read to.
Please like and share Lydia’s story about reading to her dogs - hopefully with Lydia’s help we will find many more hounds a lovely home like Hats and Chloe have with Lydia!

We have had Poppy for about 5 weeks now and she has settled brilliantly, in large part due to the care and attention Karen, Jo and the rest of the team gave to us, and to Poppy, during the adoption process. We we were allowed to get know Poppy over several weeks of walking while we prepared the house and garden for her arrival. I am sure having had the chance to build a bit of a relationship first made the transition from kennel to couch a lot easier for Poppy and for us. The whole experience has been a dream.

We adopted our first greyhound from Dunrunnin 6 weeks ago. We are first time dog owners and were given great direction and advice during the adoption process and have been given fantastic support and advice since she came home. There was no pressure at any time during the adoption process, Karen and the team are passionate about matching the right greyhounds with the right owners. We are so grateful to the team for our wonderful new family member! Cannot recommend highly enough!

Lovely dogs, lovely people. Karen is so dedicated to the dogs in her care and to ensuring they are matched up to the right home. Just be very careful, you could very easily go in for one and come out with two!! We have two dogs from Dunrunnin, Jones and Nellie Noodles, (I hold you totally responsible for that one) Karen Farley!!. All the kennel volunteers and walkers are amazing people too.
