Norfolk has some of the best and beautiful coastlines in the country, and there are many health benefits to walking along our famous beaches! ¤īŖ
... Strolling on a sandy beach burns 20-50% more calories than normal walking as it makes your muscles work harder; however the sand acts as a natural cushion, decreasing the impact on your joints! ¤Æ¬¤Å╝
Beaches can be a relaxing environment and fantastic for stress relief, this also means that the majority or people walk further on a beach than they would normally.

Wow, what can i say. We are a family of 18, three generations, all came together for two nights to celebrate my husband Alan,s 70th birthday. The restaurant staff were very accommodating, with such a big group.. We were sectioned off and hope we didn't upset anyone else's evenings. Rooms were brilliant especially mine and Alans with our four poster bed and such space. Food was very good, although breakfast this morning Thursday 31st, was a bit slow to replenish and one party member didn't get a fry-up !!

A special thank you to Rosie Cammell in the office, for organizing most of it....

We will return.....

We have just had the most magical weekend getting married at Dunston Hall Hotel. It was perfect from when we checked in on Thursday right through to Sunday. The staff have been so helpful, food was perfection, rooms and hotel are beautifully presented. We are so thankful to Abbey for her organising prior to the wedding then Kirsten and the team who made the day run so smoothly and couldnŌĆÖt do enough for us! Truely amazing and so brilliant at their jobs. Thank you so so much ’┐Į

Very nice hotel with a spectacular view as you drive to the entrance. Very friendly and helpful check-in staff. Large modern rooms with tea & coffee making facilities and very bright bathroom which my wife liked. The hotel dates back to 1626 and oozes history with dark wood panels and high ceiling bars and brasserie with plenty of windows and views of the garden.

We stayed for a Burns Night event, which was held in The Eaton Suite for around 80 people and it was great (one of many events they hold at Dunston Hall throughout the year) with excellent food and service. Drinks prices are OK for a hotel of this standard and dine and stay prices are excellent., including full buffet breakfast.

Went for a nice walk around the grounds with instruction printed by staff to ensure we didnŌĆÖt get lost or wander into private property. Finished off with a hot coffee at golf club Bunker Bar.

I highly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I got married at Dunston Hall in May this year. Every single person along the way from planning the wedding to the actual day was absolutely incredible! The staff went above and beyond to make our day perfect! I definitely recommend not only staying at Dunston Hall since it's a beautiful hotel, but to trust them with important events like weddings, anniversaries and anything else you want to celebrate!

Thank you again Dunston Hall for an absolutely amazing wedding day!

User

My family and I took our Nan for Afternoon Tea here as it was her birthday this coming week and wow, what an amazing time we all had. The surroundings are fantastic anyway, the food was so delicious (so much choice!!) and I must mention the staff.. nothing was too much trouble!! We had a lovely lady called Mel wait on us and I can only say what an asset she is to your hotel! Not only did she organise for my three year old daughter to meet Dunston Bear (I had a very happy girl now!), she looked after us incredibly well plus took and made special requests to make the experience very fantastic for the birthday girl too! Thank you so much Mel!! Even when my mum was struggling to walk to the car, the lovely male member of staff offered to help her - how thoughtful! Well done all at Dunston Hall, we canŌĆÖt wait join you again!

Had golf weekend great value ,the staff were very helpful. Room was lovely food was good and the facilities were great .will definitely be going back.

User

Had a night away with the better half. From entering the reception to leaving everything was brilliant.

We went swimming after dropping our things off at the lovely room we had. The swimming pool was lovely as was the steam room and sauna.

We then had a few drinks at the bar and they couldnŌĆÖt do anymore to assist us.

We then went for a meal and that was out of this world!

Slept soundly all night, when we went to depart we were told the A140 was closed so they extended the room for us so we could wait until all the snow was cleared.

The breakfast in the morning was divine.

Would highly recommend.

User

An amazing experience at Dunston Hall yesterday. Spa day with afternoon tea. Pool area facilities were great, afternoon tea was amazing and spa treatments were superb. The best part of the day was the amazing staff in each area, they were helpful, kind, informative and all did a great job. Would definitely visit again and would advise a visit. also a fantastic venue for weddings.

21 Family members stayed here from Xmas eve through to Boxing Day & It was Perfect. All placed on the same floor within the same area, Food was amazing, Staff were Brilliant & the facilities catered for every need. Its not very often we all get to see each other but we all had the most perfect Christmas together (Thanks to my brothers present to us all booking here) & all the little ones (cousins) loved the swimming pool, especially as they bring out floats etc for them for Childrens Splash time. Can't fault the staff & how friendly they All were & nothing seemed too much trouble. We were all greeted with a box full of GNAW handcrafted chocolates in our rooms & all the kids recieved a present on their bed from santa when returning to our rooms after the meal xmas eve as well as a present from Father Christmas himself on the big day at the main meal. It was the Perfect Christmas at the perfect Hotel. Thankyou Dunston Hall

We stayed for 1 night to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We arrived to be told our booking couldnŌĆÖt be found having cancelled and rebooked. They were nice enough to reinstate the cancelled room for us. CouldnŌĆÖt fault the staff at all, especially our waiter for our evening meal in the brasserie, believe he was called Sam. The breakfast was lovely, very happy with the food. The spa was nice although the pool was a little too cold. We slept well, but after a long time getting comfy, the mattress was a little too springy not very soft and the room was far too hot, would have thought a place like this would have had air con. Had to sleep with both windows wide open and still too hot.

It was a good stay, but not sure I would stay for any longer than 1 night again.

User

Overall itŌĆÖs ok. WeŌĆÖve stayed here a few times for Ladies festivals. However this year we (8 of us) decided weŌĆÖd like an afternoon tea which they advertise on a huge banner at the gates to the drive. We were told that as they also had a wedding on that day they couldnŌĆÖt accommodate our request; clearly not enough staff! So we went to Tesco and got our own, which they advised there wasnŌĆÖt much they could do as long as we didnŌĆÖt bring through reception. We arrived on Friday and as the weather was planned as being beautiful I advised the bar manger that there were approx 160 of us and that theyŌĆÖd need more tables and chairs so people could sit in the sunshine and have a drink. To be advised the they didnŌĆÖt have anymore (think I counted 6 rattan tables with probably 10 chairs to a table. Would think twice before having a wedding here too as wedding guests mingle with normal weekend guests. You could end up with someone in a spa robe in the background of your photo especially if your photographer donŌĆÖt watch their backgrounds. Dunston Hall you should section off part of the gardens for your bridal parties but not at the detriment of your other paying guests; just saying! A few years ago you used to have tables and chairs down on the patio so we could sit and watch the golfers go by with a large glass of wine, Dunston seem to have left this now as wasted space. Weed it and get some tables and chairs down there! I also think you used to have a bit of a pop up bar there!

User

CouldnŌĆÖt fault the staff, the service, the food or the location but as normal the they had gone for cheapness in the accessible room. You could get in the hotel and the room but the bathroom was big enough for a wet room with a seat in the shower but they had fitted a grab rail for the bath and no thought as to how wheelchair user was going to get in or out, very poor

User

Not terrible, but absolutely totally average for the price.

The rooms are starting to look and feel very dated compared to other hotel chains. The lack of fully opening windows, no A/C and an inoperable fan made for a stuffy night's sleep.

At breakfast the queue for the unremarkable cooked buffet got extremely long due to a shortage of plates. The large troughs of eggs and beans were not being refreshed anywhere near frequently enough, and looked very insipid and unappealing. Several tables around us remained uncleared whilst we ate.

On check-out the self service take-away coffee machine was empty and unserviced. If you are going to offer a facility, make sure it works.

In general the place has the feel of business which may have once been quite special, but has now become somewhat complacent and let itself go (despite clearly having a somewhat over-inflated opinion of itself).

Disappointing.

User

Went for a look around the antique fair, which was lovely, then went for a carvery. It took 20 mins to get our drinks, an hour for half of the starters to come out, but no kids starters... Asked for kids starters twice, to be told they are on their way but would be taken off the bill - great, but we had hungry kids and no food. The mains took another half an hour to come despite the fact the restaurant was not busy, then to boot, there was hardly any gravy, roast potatoes or yorkshire puddings left and the food was really not that great. Extremely disappointing and will not be in a hurry to go back.

User

Went on a golf break. Course was great really enjoyed it. Unfortunately the catering was a disaster. I am vegetarian. Wish I had checked the other reviews before booking. Only veg starter was soup not ideal at the end of a hot July. We asked about main course and they said there would be something shortly. It turned out to be a plate of the mixed roasted veg they were serving as a side, with a bit of feta crumbled on top!!!! There is a common theme in these reviews and it seems the management are NOT listening. Such a terrible shame.

User

There are 2 main points I will mention about a Christmas party night I attended with 16 people in December 2017-

1: The food. There were 4 vegetarians on our table. We were served a main course of butternut squash, roast veg and roast potato. As soon as the dishes were served, all 4 of us asked for some gravy, as the meal was served with no sauce/jus or gravy at all, but was clearly very dry and in need of some.

I waited, and waited, asked again 2 more times (was told it was on its way), but ended up having to eat the meal dry, before it was too cold to eat at all. A jug of beef gravy was brought eventually, which one veggie poured over her food, before being told it was beef. My meal had to be consumed dry.

2: At the end of the meal, before the disco started, I was drinking my coffee, when something very sticky was thrown at me from another table. It landed on my shoulder, back, and down my arm. It also hit the shirt and suit jackets of 2 other sat either side of me.

Whatever was thrown was very smelly, and very, very sticky and completely gross. I asked to speak with the manager, who apologized and explained that one of the other tables was being very rowdy, and that they were already being watched. We couldn't see who had thrown the food, but the manager told us they would keep an eye out.

I had to wash my arms as best I could in the ladies, and wipe the mess from my dress. However, the rest of the evening I felt very uncomfortable, not clean, and kept smelling the food. I tried to brush it aside, and enjoy the event as best I could, but it really did spoil what should have been an enjoyable event.

I sent a complaint to the manager, but was eventually told the veggie meal was as they specified at the time, though they did change it at a later date, and sorry about the bad behaviour that wasn't managed. No offer for a free meal to make up for it, or even an afternoon tea to say sorry. Very poor customer service from what used to be a quality venue. Not any more!

User

The lack of customer service is abysmal. My husband and I have been coming here with friends , 3 or 4 times a year for usually a 3 day break. We had a really bad meal on our first night , steak was grey and off , surprised there weren't flies buzzing around it. Even the restaraunt manager agreed , the smell was awful. We went to reception to complain and was directed to the "golf" manager ! Needless to say we have heard nothing more. It was my husband's 50th on Wed and our anniversary on Thursday , I did advise and asked for something special to be done ! A scribbled hand written note in our room. When we've stayed on birthdays before , when it was a "de'vere" hotel , we were treated very well. We have spent the last few days looking around for another venue to frequent on our "get away from it all" days.

To top it off , we just had a "cream tea" ’┐Į’┐Į served with Tesco's craappiest , driest smallest scones !! For a tenner !! Having a cafe our selves that serves homemade scones for cream teas I find this outrageous for a place such as this to serve such rubbish. It takes minutes to knock up real scones. It's a shame , selling off to big companies really DOESN'T work !! We are now just purses to put money in their pockets. Not "guests" to be looked after as we once were. We also went into the spa today , the spa was cold , was warmer in the swimming pool , I wasn't the only one to comment on this, and it was very grimy. Standards have definitely slipped. Such a shame for what a place it once was. I don't expect any response from management, been here 4 days and they haven't bothered so I expect the standard c&p response of how they are going to "look into it" ..... !!!!!

User
