About Durham University Geographical Society
Welcome to the official Durham University Geographical Society Facebook Page, one of the oldest and largest societies at Durham University.
Durham University Geographical Society Description
Durham University Geographical Society (DUGS) is one of the oldest and largest academic societies within Durham University. With the majority of geography students being members, along with many other students studying much wider degree courses, the society provides an effective link between students from different colleges and departments.
The society aims to provide members with all the information they need about studying geography at Durham and careers after university whilst providing a wide variety of exclusive social and academic events throughout the year. This year we are aiming to become bigger and better than ever before offering a large number of guest lectures, careers talks, and social events which will include the greatly anticipated super social in the Epiphany term.
This year the society is sponsored by EY (formerly Ernst and Young). EY is one of the Big 4 Professional Services firms, who offer a wide range of career opportunities for undergraduates in Accounting, Corporate Finance, Tax and Advisory roles.
EY sponsor the Geography Society as they recognise the broad array of skills and backgrounds that Durham Geography students have. Through this sponsorship, EY host various events throughout the academic year. These include Q& A sessions, workshops and informal networking drinks with EY employees to discuss who EY are, and potential career opportunities for Durham Geographers.
