Introducing our brilliant soloist for Sunday, Hannah Ambrose!
Hannah Ambrose is a Classics finalist at Durham University. She began vocal lessons at the age of 11 under Julia Wilson-James and is now taught by Susan Young. Outside of her degree, Hannah is the Soprano Scholar at St Mary’s Chapel and plays an active role within the many musical societies that the university offers. She has performed a number of leading roles within Durham Opera Ensemble, most notably including A...dele in Die Fledermaus and Josephine in HMS Pinafore, performs with Durham University Light Opera Group and Full Score A Capella Choir and has played violin with DUPO for the past three years. Outside of Durham, Hannah has sung with the National Youth Chamber Choir and Main Choir, with whom she has recorded at Abbey Road Studios and performed at the First Night of the Proms. Other notable solo performances include Vivaldi’s Domine Deus, Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music and Berlioz’ Carmen in an orchestral setting. Next year, Hannah is thrilled to begin her Vocal Studies Postgraduate course next year at York University.

We're very excited to introduce our final concert of the year. This concert will include both the Symphony and Chamber Orchestra, alongside pupils from St Margaret's school. Our summer project will bring to you Mussorgsky, Glière and Stravinsky, as well as a student composition by Rob King with the pupils of St. Margaret's School.

We're so proud to have received a Half Palatinate award for Outreach! It was wonderful to hear about all the amazing outreach that happens in all sorts of societies throughout music and drama, as well as all the individuals that contribute their time and skill. Congratulations to everyone who was nominated and received an award throughout the evening - including several DUPO members!
This year's outreach work, including November's Primary Schools Concert and this Sunday's Su...mmer Concert, couldn't have been possible without the hard work of our Outreach Officers Becky Taylor and Charlotte Sasse, and Rob King and Matthias Lichtenfeld who are leading this term's project.
