dwell design was appointed to undertake a ground floor extension and remodelling project in Widley. The ground floor extension creates an open-plan kitchen and living space that successfully links with the existing house. Bi-folding glazed doors create strong indoor / outdoor connections. Roof glazing bars provide additional light into the living area. A sympathetic material palette of render was utilised to match the existing house. The proposed changes have maximised the potential of the existing house adding light, amenity values and garden views.

Interesting lunchtime CPD with Marmox showing how their Thermoblock product can help us design even more environmentally friendly and energy efficient homes for our clients. This includes preventing cold-bridging and reducing energy loss as now insulation can be placed under a supporting wall.

Planning Permission and Listed Building consent has been achieved for a ground floor extension and loft conversion to a Grade II listed property in the Fareham conversion area. The single storey gable addition to the ground floor will create an open-plan feel with light provided by the addition of bi-folding doors and conservation rooflights. An open-plan design has also been created in the loft conversion aspect. The architecture heritage of the existing building has provided a rich source of inspiration to the form of the single storey rear addition, proposed materials and internal changes.

dwell design was appointed to undertake an extension and refurbishment project to transform and extend this 1980s detached house in Stubbington. A single-storey rear gable extension was designed which incorporated an open-plan kitchen and living area. This has transformed the rear of the property to provide a contemporary feel, replacing an out-of-date conservatory. Key features include: the roof-glazing bars, high-level window, bi-folding doors, and a vaulted ceiling to c...reate a dramatic sense of space in this new-build area. The extension provides extensive views of the garden and more light into the main living space of the property. The internal changes provide much better utilisation of the space for modern family life. A sympathetic material palette was selected of red brick and interlocking roof tiles to match the existing house.

Here are some photographs from a photoshoot for our internal refurbishment project in Farnham. The changes have completely transformed the property. An open-plan living space has been created. Enlarged flat rooflights have created additional light, the new doors provide strong indoor / outdoor connections and garden views and a new feature kitchen island and kitchen area have been added. Bespoke joinery has provided much needed storage and helped define the main living sp...ace.

Great review received for our Stubbington extension & remodelling project that has just achieved planning permission. It is exciting news to hear that the clients are pleased with the final design. Planning Permission has been achieved for our Stubbington contemporary rear extension and reconfiguration project. The modern design allows strong / indoor outdoor connections with an open plan feel and an extensive amount of natural light to provide garden views. Wooden cladding and aluminium doors give the extension a fresh feel and create a contemporary addition to the house. The sliding doors and flat rooflights maximise light into the property. Here are some images of the design and some early concepts 3Ds. It will be good to start undertaking the technical design in the next few weeks

Here are some photographs of a recent photoshoot for our eco-build refurbishment & extension project in Chichester. A major re-plan and extension of a modest semi-detached bungalow has created a spacious open-plan feel and two extra bedrooms. The ground floor extension creates a spacious open-plan living space, garden views and a large amount of additional light. Bi-folding glazed doors create strong indoor / outdoor connections and roof windows to the main roof provide additional light to the main living space.

Working closely with a private client, dwell design was commissioned to refurbish and convert a disused chapel into a luxury 4 bedroom private residence in Chichester. The chapel is naturally split into three distinct volumes - the main chapel has been converted into a double-height central living space, while the meeting rooms and community areas provide smaller family and support spaces. The conversion features a bespoke staircase, a customised breakfast bar and an elevated... living room space. Carefully working with the existing building fabric, dwell design removed elements of the ground floor to create volume and draw attention to the carefully restored metal roof structure. A vaulted ceiling to the living areas, combines period features with stylish contemporary design and an open-plan feel.
The project has restored a disused former chapel providing a dynamic new space organised by the insertion of two crisp timber stair cases leading off to the bedroom accommodation creating an interesting dialogue between old and new. Due to the building’s former use, it required working closely with the planning authority to obtain consent. A lot of the original period features have been kept intact to make the best use of the space and let the original character shine. The project has been designed to maintain and enhance its distinct character and the client is enjoying experiencing the dramatic space that has been created.

Anthony at Dwell Design was recommended by some friends when we needed an Architect to draw up plans for our loft conversion. From the outset he was very attentive to our needs and worked hard to ensure the design incorporated everything we wanted. He also made some great suggestions to make the most of our space. We would have no hesitation in recommending him to others. Thanks Anthony!
