Dyane'S: Dressmaking And Workshops Description

Dyane:

Dyane is a dressmaker, as well as wife, mum & Quaker.

She trained in Clothing Manufacture & Management at Jacob Kranmer Collage in Leeds more than 20 years ago. Eight years later she took time out to gain a BA(hons) in Religious Studies & Environmental Ethics.

Over the years she has stitched costumes, cushions and curtains for numerous projects / shows in England, Wales, India & Canada. Becoming a company director of a Cloth Nappy company in 1998 until 2006.

Now with two children, she is a mum at home working as a dressmaker, around family needs.

By focusing on Repairs & Alterations, she blends her skill in sewing with her interest in the environment with particular focus on waste minimization.

Being a mum has made her realise how few children are taught how to sew nowadays as it is no longer part of the primary curriculum and many parents lack the skills to pass on, so she uses the 'Stitch Club (hand sewing) and Kids can Sew (machine sewing) curriculum's to teach kids who would like to learn after school or during holiday workshops.
