Assess for Success!
... One size does not fit all! The importance of assessing to identify hidden disabilities, e.g. dyslexia.
The Dyslexia Association of Staffordshire would like to invite you to one of our 3 events we are holding throughout the county. The FREE TO ENTER events aim to explain why diagnostic testing is not about labelling an individual, but is about developing an individual profile of strengths and weaknesses in order to manage, support and develop identified areas of difficulty. If you would like to attend, please book your free ticket through one of the Eventbrite links below.
Booking details:
North Staffs Conference Centre, Hartshill – Tuesday 2nd July, 6.30pm until 8.30pm
https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/assess-for -success-tickets-5…
Our events are aimed at anyone who has an interest in dyslexia and overlapping conditions, including education staff, employers and parents/carers. The three speakers for the evening are Colleen Pearson, Jennie Murray and Elizabeth Jones, who will be explaining why assessment to specifically identify a profile of learner strengths and weaknesses is the key to success for an individual. Testing by a qualified, experienced practitioner will ensure that a person's specific difficulties are better understood by the individual concerned and by everyone involved in supporting the person. Without the right support, individuals with hidden disabilities will fall behind their peers with the gap widening as they get older. The additional impact of this can be low self-esteem. However, recognising a person's strengths and weaknesses and ensuring the right support is in place, regardless of environment, will enable achievement of full potential and improved long term prospects. We look forward welcoming you to one of our events.
