Last Friday (22/03/2019) Pre School and Tweenies had a very exciting visit. Two police officers came in to talk to the children about what they do in the community and how they help us. šŸš“
They brought in some police uniforms for the children to try on. The children then went out side in small groups into the car park where the police car was parked and got the chance to sit inside it and look at the flashing lights.
Once all the children had looked at the car we went and sto...od on the opposite end of the garden so that they could put the very loud sirens on. The children all got very excited and ran to the fence to get a closer look.
We would like to say a big thank you to the officers for taking the time to come out and see the children they all really enjoyed it.
If any other parents or grand parents would like to come in and talk to the children about their jobs please talk to the staff in the rooms. The children enjoy having people for out side come in and speak to them.

Today at Early Learners we have enjoyed celebration World Book Day.
A big thank you to all the parents the children all look brilliant and have loved showing off their costumes to their friends.
In Baby Room we sat in Evie's Place enjoying all the touchy feely books and reading a special story about Princess Evie. We then coloured in pictures of the characters we came dressed up as.
... In Toddler Room we loved showing off our favourite stories and sitting down and reading them, we also enjoyed watching The Gruffalo story on the computer.
In Tweenies we were busy using the props to retell some of our favourite stories and we made special pizza's for our tea. We also enjoyed having a little dance.
In Pre School we have liked sharing the stories we like with our friends and using our imaginations to retell the stories our selves with out any grown up help. We liked telling everyone what we were dressed up as and have enjoyed listening to new stories we haven't heard before.
We have all had a lovely day in nursery today - we hope you like looking at all the pictures.

During February we have had lots of exciting things to do.
On Tuesday 5th February we celebrated Chinese New Year. We tasted lots of Chinese foods such as spring rolls, noodles, prawn crackers and sweet & sour sauce. Some of us really enjoyed it but some of us didnā€™t really like the Chinese food. We also did lots of craft activities based around Chinese New Year. We made lucky money wallets that said ā€˜Happy New Yearā€™ in Chinese writing on them with Helen. We made little Chin...ese dragons with Drew, using the pens to colour them in and following instructions to put them together. With Debbie we made Chinese lanterns, decorating them using glue and sequins to make them nice and sparkly.
For valentineā€™s day we baked heart shaped chocolate chip cookies and made lots of different crafts for our mummies and daddies. We followed instructions and used our own ideas to decorate things. On valentineā€™s day some of our parents and grandparents came to do some lovely things with us. We played in the water, filling and pouring with heart sequins, we made peg butterflies, heart wands and decorated heart biscuits.
Following the childrenā€™s interests we have also been looking at healthy eating. We created some healthy food plates with Michelle, sticking different materials on plates to represent fruit and vegetables. We looked at all of the different types of foods, sorting them into healthy and unhealthy foods. We also did a food tasting activity, following on from Chinese New Year; tasting different types of fruit. We discussed which fruits we had, looked at the colour and discussed the texture of them. Linking to healthy eating, we also do lots of different types of music & movement to talk about how it affects our bodies and practice moving in a variety of ways.

Last Thursday we invited all our Pre School children and families to join us to celebrate Valentines Day. We hosted a loved up stay and play with our sweethearts. It was lovely to see so many of our parents join in with the event.
The children enjoyed creating jam hearts to take home, they used red icing to roll out and make small hearts to go with their jam tarts and used edible writing pens to add the name of who is special to them. Another activity was for children to mak...e and design their own love heart to give and heart shape printing. In the water tray we had rose petals, heart shaped sequins and red food dye, and in the reading corner we created a cosy spot for our children to have a picture taken with their family member, Pre School sweetheart or best friend šŸ˜Š Little fun props were added such as a rose, hearts hanging and ribbons, crowns and confetti balloons.
At circle time we spoke about Valentineā€™s Day and what it meant, we read a beautiful story titled ā€˜Thereā€™s no one I love like youā€™. This was a firm favourite to read and share. When the families were leaving the children picked a heart sticker for mums, dads and granddads, they chose a love heart chocolate or a love bug to give and their love heart collages too. The children loved the balloons and wanted to take them home, the room was decorated with spreading the theme of the day, love. Lots of hearts were displayed and the childrenā€™s artwork hanging too. The Pre Schoolers all commented that they loved the decoration in their room and wanted to keep it forever. We did other activities leading up to the special day such as drawing hearts, people who were special to us, red scented play dough with heart shaped cutters, listening to Valentineā€™s music for kids and dancing to this for movement and dance time, love heart bath bombs in the water tray to watch them fizz around and go smaller in size and shape, this was exciting for the children to see.

Following on from the success of running Sports club for the last 3 terms we are excited to offer it again from 19th February 2019. This is for the Pre School and Tweenie's children and will be run on a Tuesday afternoon from 1pm - 1.45pm.
This is a separate company who will be offering a range of sports activities at a small cost.
... Little Superstars Sports Club would like to start their fun, active and instructive multi sports sessions at Early Learners Nursery. Scott would be your coach. At Little Superstars Sports Club we provide coaching in 20 different sports. The sports covered include football, rugby, basketball, lacrosse, golf, baseball, racket sports and many more. All equipment is provided and is age and sport specific. Our sessions start with a structured fun and active warm up which is followed by instruction in our featured sport for that week and finish with a cool down session. Each session lasts 45 minutes and costs Ā£2.50 per child per week. All the classes are taught by our specialist, experienced and qualified Sports coaches, who are all enhanced CRB checked. Little Superstars Sports Club are aware that not all children are motivated by sport; however we do believe that every child has in them the capabilities to reach their own sporting potential. All children are therefore included and encouraged equally regardless of ability. We believe that children who take part in sport at an early age will also grow up to appreciate sport rather than avoiding it. We fulfil this aim by positive reinforcement of all achievements.
The dates for the Second half term is as follows:
Tuesday 19 February until Tuesday 2 April - 7 weeks
We have changed the way we take payment to give more flexibility for you to be able to do this at a time convenient for yourselves
Use the following link and you can book and pay for your child online by either card, BACS or childcare vouchers.

Today in the Baby Room we held our stay and play where we invited our parentā€™s to come and join in with some Valentineā€™s day activities. We set up three different activities. The first activity we did was some shape printing using the love hearts. The children enjoyed exploring the paint using their hands as well as joining in with the printing. The children also used the paint brushes to carry out some free painting šŸ–Œ Once the children had finished we moved onto the next tab...le where we made some lovebugs šŸž We painted the childrenā€™s feet to make them into ladybirds. With a bit of reassurance the children allowed us to paint their feet. Ruhaan was unsure but allowed his dad to paint them. Once we had finished with our painting we started on our gloop play. With a lot of encouragement the children would come over and touch the gloop. Caleb thought it would be fun to add some balls into the gloop and was playing ready steady go with Brody. Ruhaanā€™s dad was trying to encourage him to explore the gloop and he kept putting his fingers in it. We all had lots of fun as you can see from our pictures ā¤ We hope you can make it to our next stay and play as we have lots more fun activities planned.

Weather Warning ā€“ Snow
Early Learners will do itā€™s utmost to open on time and offer a full service. Due to safety we have needed to shut the car-park. We are sorry for this inconvenience.
The recent snow fall conditions is considered hazardous in some areas for children, families and staff to travel. In the event of heavy snowfall during the nursery day a decision will be taken by the manager whether the service should remain open, taking into account the safety of the ch...ildren and staff travelling.
Early Learners sees snow as an opportunity for play and exploration. Please ensure that your child is suitably dressed for going outside during play time. We will only keep the children inside if conditions are unpleasant or unacceptably risky.
In the event of an extreme weather warning, we will update parents to any operational changes either by either notifications (pre-warning), telephone, email and social media.
We appreciate your co-operation and understanding with this matter should this unpredictable situation occur.
Kind regards

All 3 and 4-year-olds and some 2-year olds in England are currently entitled to up to 15 hours a week free childcare for 38 weeks of the year (during school term-times). All children in England get 570 free hours per year. We spread this free entitlement over 12 months (instead of 38 weeks), to help spread the savings throughout the year. You may be able to get up to 30 hours free childcare (1,140 hours per year, which you can choose how you take). The ā€˜30 hours free childcar...eā€™ scheme is great news for eligible families, who could claim up to double the amount of free childcare they are currently entitled to. This could take your free childcare entitlement from 570 hours a year up to 1,140 hours a year. If youā€™re eligible for the extra hours, you can simply sign up online to get a code to give to us your childcare provider to reserve your place. Youā€™ll get the extra hours once the next term starts. For more information please click on the link below:
