I want to share with you my 3 favourite ways to use cacao butter. Today's tip is to use it as a rich moisturizer. I simply add a couple of chunks to a heat proof bowl, set it above a pan of water and let it gradually melt. You can add a drop of lavender essential oil if you want. Once it's melted just use your hands to rub it over your body. It has a thick, deep, fatty consistency that nourishes your skin. The smell is divine and the overall process is really rewarding, a 5 m...inute self-care task that we all deserve sometimes. This method isn't an everyday moisturizer; I would say once to twice a week, perfect after long days out in the sun and on the beach, it gives your skin the drink it needs πŸ’¦πŸŒžI also only advise this for your body as it is too heavy for your facial pores. Follow the simply rule of toxic free body care; if it can't be eaten, don't use it. ✌🏼️

πŸ’₯NEW PRODUCT! πŸ’₯Excited to announce we now have #fairtrade #organic #raw cacao butter in stock! I absolutely love this product, I use it to make yummy raw chocolate, drinks, cakes and even topically for cosmetic reasons. I will share recipes with you soon. But for now... just take pleasure in knowing you no longer have to buy cacao butter in those awful hard plastic containers. Bring down your old container or any container for that matter and get as much or as little as you need. Another bonus is buying from a bulk store is always cheaper! Win win.

Organization is key πŸ”‘ to avoiding waste and eating real food. Yesterday morning as I ate breakfast I sat and flicked through all my favourite cookbooks {this is literally one of my favourite things to do!} and I planned the next four days evening meals and snacks. I don't even follow the recipes exactly, I just take inspiration and ideas and create what I can with what I can buy/make. Above this list I also wrote my shopping list, breaking it down into separate lists for all ...the different shops I need to visit for certain items {I also love writing lists!} My messy list wasn't meant to be a social media post but Richard remarked that it's this kind of organization that helps us eat great food everyday. All of the food on this list is plastic-free, organic and homemade. If you know what you're eating tonight and even tomorrow, you can allocate your time better and do some food prep in the mornings. Do you meal plan? Give it a try, it makes the week flow nicely. #zerowaste #plasticfreejuly #plasticfreemeal #organic #plantbased

A last minute plastic-free snack today. I refilled my almond butter and bought some plastic free, organic strawberries that were grown locally.

Making my own Bircher mix! The term Bircher comes from a man named Maximilian Oskar Bircher Benny and who invented the original Bircher recipe back in 1879- he was a pioneer nutritionist standing up for his beliefs in raw foods. ✨When I got home I diced my mango into small chunks and mixed it all together in this glass jar. To make overnight Bircher breakfast you simply add 3/4 cup of Bircher mix with 1/2 cup of almond milk and soak overnight. In the morning you can top with ...fresh fruit and some yogurt (optional). Soaking overnight leads to better digestion as the nuts and seeds get activate in the soaking process. The recipe I follow is; 1/4 cup flax seeds, 1/2 cup sesame seeds, 1/2 cup sunflower seeds, 1/2 cup chia seeds, 1/2 cup shredded coconut, 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds, 1/2 cup hemp seeds, 1/4 cup sultanas, 1/2 cup dried mango diced. Mix together! πŸ’š

πŸ˜€So happy when I come home and unpack my groceries. None of the foods pictured need any packaging, ever. Yet major supermarkets still choose to wrap their food in toxic and harmful plastic. Grateful that we have several grocery shops and a market stall here in Totnes that let you shop this way. Then of course I get my dried foods from @earthfoodlove ✌🏼️

I was listening to music on YouTube and an advert stopped me in my tracks. I went over to listen/watch it and it resonated so deeply with me. We have created an unnatural living environment for our families. Fresh air and day light are so crucial to our health. Companies now market chemicals to mimic the 'clean' smell of nature. But the smell of clean, is no smell at all. Open your windows, open your doors and let air circulate your home. It's also a startling fact that children's bedrooms are often the most toxic... it's all those synthetic toys that off-gas into their little bodies. Let's simplify our lives and connect with nature again. Watch the whole video and if it touches you as it did me, share it with your friends. Let's end the indoor generation. πŸ™ŒπŸΌ Granted it's just a velux advertisement but they touch on all the truths!

πŸ™ŒπŸΌ My favorite magazine @junomagazine has impressed me again this issue. Plastic-free living, gentle eating, tiny house living and gardening are all covered. As well as this amazing cracker recipe; Grain free, gluten free and zero waste (if you shop with us). Really easy to make and I think they'll go perfect with my zero waste hummus too!

Balloon free birthday!! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ Who needs balloons when you have BEAUTIFUL BUNTING πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’› We had bunting outside, bunting in the kitchen, the dining room and the front door. It can be used for so many occasions; christenings, weddings, Easter and birthdays to just name a few. Make some or buy some... either way it avoids disposable balloons and banners that end up in landfill or the ocean. ❌ 🎈❌
Also curious to know why @instagram has a symbol for balloon 🎈 but none for #bunting ❗...️❗️❗️❗️ Can we make this a thing to protest. Balloons don't have a future in this world. Who is with me?
Our tables were rescued wooden pallets from past deliveries ✌🏼️

We went to the beach twice this week... we didn't even go to 'litter pick'. The things in the picture were just in the sand by where we sat. This is tragic. These things were found on a 'clean' beach. These things were left by humans. These things would have washed into the ocean (again, for some of them!). These things will leach toxins into our ocean (and into our food for those that eat sea food). These things will choke marine animals. These things are AVOIDABLE. Lets bre...ak it down; β€’drink cans- take your own drink and do yourself a favour avoiding all the nasty ingredients too β€’ teabag- use loose leaf β€’ babywipe - use a hanky β€’ straw wrapper- use a metal straw β€’ plastic fork- take a spork in your bag. There's always a solution, we just have to care enough to change our habits. Take an ocean friendly snack to the beach this summer. The animal πŸ³πŸ’πŸ¬πŸ‘πŸŸπŸ πŸ‹and the earth 🌏 will love you for it πŸ’š

πŸ˜€ Check out this video Rob Greenfield made of our shop during his stay in Totnes. Hopefully zero waste shops will be opening everywhere in the near future! ✌🏼️

User

Wow we are 13 days into our New Year's resolution of living more sustainably and this shop is such an eye opening experience. A month ago I would have run a mile from a shop like this as it would have confused me and even though our first visit though our first visit today was slightly daunting Richard was lovely and made us feel quite at home. I will be back for more!

User

What a find, top end of Totnes high street, very much worth a visit. Found organic apricots and stuffed them with organic toasted coconut slivers. Inspiring place to be.

User

This makes so much sense! Had my first shop there today and it was like combining the old with the new - you can even buy fresh almond nut butter which you make yourself!!! That blew me away! I'll definitely be back - thank you for making Totnes even better xx

User

This is our new favourite shop - friendly, inspiring, affordable, a total joy!! The almond butter is out of this world, about 10 times nicer than any other almond butter we've ever eaten. Delicious (and cheap!) maple syrup, everything organic, everything vegan, everything amazing. Really hope this idea will grow and grow, everyone should have a shop like this near them!

User

This is a lifestyle rather than a shop, it enforces the idea of "the power of one" to impact change.

When you ask "what can I do" well this is a big step.

Be that ripple in the pool of life.

User

These shops should be everywhere! My daughter was most impressed. She's 16 so that takes some doing! Everything is Vegan, too. Love it.

User

The name says it all - just food & pure love, no garbage, no nonsense! It's an awesome concept, lovingly executed with beautiful design and friendly atmosphere & service. I want to see this grow into Totnes's main food store - so good luck!!

User

Thank goodness a shop like this has arrived! At a time when plastic is in gross abundance it's such a relief to know that their IS another option. Lovely family running the shop too.

User

Love the shop, so good not to end up throwing away endless packaging, and the dried apricots are really delicious

User

Love the shop and the idea! The raw organic chocolate raisins are AMAZING!

User

Just been down to Totnes and visited this brilliant shop. Fantastic make it yourself peanut butter at a very reasonable price. What shopping should be like!

User

Its very empowering shopping here, because you are in charge of how much you want and can chose your own packaging. I'm also very curios about where all the handsome hunky young men are from...that makes it even more worthwile a visit!

User

Inspired and beautiful. I would love to see more shops like this. The food and products are great.

User

I love this shop and it's ethos. There's also a fantastic atmosphere with very friendly, helpful staff and it's great that you can buy as little as you want too. I really enjoy taking my time when I go in there and savouring the experience! And of course, last but not least it's addressing the issue that as a society we seem to be so slow to confront - packaging waste.

User

I love the Wild Sage Company shampoo bar. Doesn't strip the hair of its natural oils so I find I don't need conditioner. When you have to wash your hair over your kitchen sink like I do, this is an all round bonus!!

User

Great shop, well done on trying to make a difference & helping others to do so too. Was very happy to see the article on you in Positive News as well!

User

Extremely helpful, loads of choice. It's like proper shopping all over again. Very happy to travel here from Torbay to stock up once a month. I'll be back shortly for almond butter! :D

User

Absolutely my favourite shop. Food without all the horrible unneeded waste, so happy to have a local zero waste shop! οΏ½οΏ½οΏ½ I really hope more and more lovely shops like this open up everywhere

User

Absolutely brilliant in every way ! Loved the design and materials used to display all the goods. And the products were all suitable for vegans and also organic - the guy who owns it - Richard - is so so helpful and chatty ! Prices amazing. Go there !!
