I decided this time as little F is our third and final baby I’d like to encapsulate my placenta and see if it helps with any post natal depression that might catch up with me. I suffered last time quite badly with PND and lack of energy, two things that taking placenta capsules can help with. So far so good and even with 3 tiddlers to run round after and a husband working away I’m feeling good 👍🏻🤞🏼I also had a placenta smoothie made up which was actually really nice and just tasted of fruit 😆#placentaencapsulation #placentasmoothie #placentaremedies

Out after dark to collect a placenta from a wonderful hypnobirthing client. Seeing this beautiful momma literally glowing only hours after her baby was born and telling me that it was just perfect ❤ my heart feels so full. Can't wait to get these placenta pills back to her 😁

• BOOK RECOMMENDATION • It's time for another book review. This book is by Kate Evans, she is a cartoonist with a passion for birth. She wrote and drew this book with the help of many wonderful midwives and it is awesome. It is filled with hilarious cartoons, invaluable advice and a beautiful birth comic called Monkey Mama (my favourite bit!). I recommend her books to everyone and she also has a book about breastfeeding which is equally as fab. Have fun reading!

• BIRTH CENTRE • Do you know the difference between a freestanding birth centre and an alongside birth centre? • Freestanding can be part of a hospital that does not have a labour ward (consultant-led unit) or it can be a birth centre completely seperate to a hospital. • Alongside is either attached to a labour ward or in a hospital that also has a labour ward. The Birth Place study found that there is a difference the 2 and that a free standing BC can be safer for women with healthy pregnancies. Do you have the option of both in your area?

Although most people will have wonderful care and information from their care providers, occasionally it doesn't happen like that.
