It's amazing what can appear in one day, here at the #EastAnglianRailwayMuseum! (OK, the foundation work was done some prior, but still!) Our team of volunteers worked hard in the heat yesterday and our new 'Running Shed' is taking shape! This will allow engines to enter d exit and will have an area for our visitors to be able to get up close!
We're open every day from 10:00 - 16:30 along with Chappel Station Cafe if you want to have a closer look.

If you love all things Transport then this weekend is the one for you as we will be holding our Transport Extravaganza on Sunday 26th and Bank Holiday Monday 27th May.
As well as unlimited rides on our steam trains, we will also be offering rides on vintage buses, and there will be classic cars, vintage motorbikes, and modern head turners on display.

We like to think that we are 'more than a railway museum' (but, of course, it's our main theme!) and this week should prove that with some fantastic offerings we will be telling you about. :-) :-)

It's been a fun filled day at the museum, with lots of activities to do and stalls for visitors to visit throughout the day. We have had Duck in Boots with a stall, slime and crafts, Steff and Nonsense has been putting on a show, and we've had animal handling with Exotic Explorers Ltd.., and Double Trouble have been providing music in our Goods Shed.
As well as unlimited rides on our steam train, we will be offering another lucky few the chance to drive D2279 our Diesel Shun...ter for just £10.00, and we will have our pump trolley out again too.
Music tomorrow will be provided by New River Dixielanders, Duck in Boots and Exotic Explorers Ltd.. will still be here, go karting in our Goods Shed, face painting, and traditional rides.
Not everything is included in the admission price, so make sure you bring some spending money with you. Activities that are not included include:

Our Bank Holiday Festival kicks off tomorrow and we have a lot planned for you over the two days. Never mind the weather, wrap up warm, bring a brolly (hopefully you won't need it) and come have a fun filled day with us.
On Sunday and Monday we will be offering you unlimited steam train rides, you can hop on and off as many times as you like throughout the day. For those of you who want to get a bit more hands on and fancy a go at driving our Diesel Shunter D2279, for just an... additional £10.00 you can with our 'Taster for a Tenner' promotion (the driver must be over 18 but can bring a guest on the footplate). If that's not enough and you fancy breaking a sweat then you can even have a go on our Pump Trolley.
We will have live music throughout both days, with Double Trouble on Sunday, and New River Dixielanders on the Sunday. Live entertainment will be provided on the Sunday by Steff and Nonsense, and there will be circus skills and juggling workshops on Monday.

An always popular activity on Event Days is our 'Taster for a Tenner' promotion, where you get to drive one of our diesel engines for £10.00. We'll be offering opportunities for some lucky people to drive our Class 04 D2279 Shunter over the the two days.You must be 18 and over to drive, but you can take a friend/family member on the footplate with you.
