East London Buddhist Cultural Centre - Lumbini Viharaya Description

The East London Buddhist Cultural Centre (ELBCC) was started under the leadership of Venerable Makure Mangala Maha Thera, with the untiring help of devoted Sri Lankan Buddhists, to propagate the pure teaching of Lord Buddha to the western world.

The vihara was started towards the end of 1999 in a small house in East Ham (East London, UK) with the support of Sri Lankans in East London and also other parts of England.

On the 24th Feb 2002 the vihara moved to its present location at 33, Maybury Road, E13 8RZ.

In addition to the religious services the vihara also hosts various educational and community services for the Sri Lankan community.
