Every year, East Midlands Airport connects over 4 million passengers with the world, to serve more than 80 leisure and business destinations.
As the winner of many prestigious awards; including Best Regional UK Airport for Customer Service in 2013, our airport is a vibrant economic hub, supporting over 6, 000 jobs and generating around £300 million for the region.
As the UK’s number one provider of pure freight airport we manage approximately 300, 000 tonnes a year. We are dedicated to helping keep your communications moving and are home to leading air freight operators, such as DHL, TNT and UPS, as well as being a major air-hub for the Royal Mail.
Located in the heart of England, East Midlands Airport is in prime position to a variety of transport links and is easily accessible by train, car, bus and coach from the M1, A42 /M42 and A50. This makes us the premier choice for travellers from across the East Midlands, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, South Yorkshire and beyond.
The Air Traffic Control Tower at East Midlands Airport stands at just over 52 metres high, with a construction made up of 750 tonnes of concrete and at a building cost of 3. 5 million pounds.
We can also boast the sixth longest civilian runway in the UK, at a length of 2, 893 metres. Our on-site airport fire engines are around three times the size of standard fire engines, with the largest appliance capable of producing 350 gallons of foam and 3, 000 gallons of water.

TRAVELLING SOON? IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OUR PASSENGERS.
We would like to notify all passengers travelling in the coming weeks, that there are a number of upgrades happening at the airport, and surrounding road closures to consider when departing.
We are currently in the process of upgrading our check-in systems due to new regulations, which may cause minor disruption.Please also consider M1 and surrounding airport roads being upgraded and closed for certain periods of time... daily between 21:00-06:00.
Due to the above, please note that we have extended our check-in availability to the following:
TUI, Thomas Cook Airlines UK, Jet2.com & Jet2holidays and tour operators: Check-in 3 hours before your departure time.
Ryanair, Flybe, bmi regional and Aurigny.com: Check-in increased to 2.5 hours before your departure time.

Please remember to allow plenty of time to travel to the airport, check-in, clear security and arrive at your specified gate ahead of departure in plenty of time.
