East Sussex International College Hastings Description

Established through the amalgamation of separate colleges in 1950, Sussex Coast College Hastings is a UK Government-owned provider of Further and Higher Education. The total full- and part-time enrolments for the college exceed 10, 000. The college has two brand new main campuses, Station Plaza and Ore Valley. It comprises the following large specialist vocational schools:

• Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism
• Mechanical, Electronic and Electrical Engineering
• Business and Management Studies
• Computing and Information Technology
• Construction
• Teacher and Instructor Training and Development
• School of English as a Foreign Language
• International Operations Office
All levels of curriculum are delivered from entry level up to and including degrees and postgraduate studies. Regarding the latter, these are taught on behalf of associated universities, primarily the University of Brighton.
Each school is located in its own specialist accommodation with a large range of sector-specific resources. Academic staff are qualified in their own specialist fields and also hold appropriate teaching and assessor qualifications.
Station Plaza is situated in the town square centre, directly next to Hastings train station. Its large, light filled atrium is part of 22, 000 square meters of study spaces and social zones. Classrooms are equipped with the most up-to-date resources and each one has as interactive whiteboard. Students have 24 /7 access to lessons and learning resources from home via wiki, podcasts and teacher /student blogs. Station plaza also houses IT suites, a gym, performing arts and dance studious, an art gallery, a coffee shop, a training kitchen, a professional hair salon, a restaurant, a learning resource centre and audio-visual /media equipment.
Ore Valley is less than a mile from Hastings town centre. This brand new site has 7, 000 square meters of realistic working environments, workshops and “live build” areas, where students build, wire, plumb, fit-out and decorate a full size house in central atrium. The site is adjacent to Ore Valley station, with Hastings town centre just one stop away.
The college is inspected by Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Education (Ofsted) and its English language programmes are accredited by the British Council.
