Novak Djokovic, the three-time Wimbledon champion, clinched the AEGON International without dropping a set all week and triumphed over France's Gael Monfils 6-3 6-4 in the final at Eastbourne. The Serbian star, a 12-time Grand Slam champion, claimed his first grass court crown since 2015 Wimbledon. He said: "It was a tough match today, I hope you go well in Wimbledon Gael, I wish you all the best. "It was my first time at Eastbourne and I hope I can see you guys in the years to come. "This is the best possible preparation for next week so hopefully I can go on from here."

Karolina Pliskova denied Caroline Wozniacki a second Eastbourne crown, and in turn claimed her maiden title at Devonshire Park with a polished straight set success to claim the AEGON International. The Czech no.3 seed, given a semi-final walkover over injured British ace Johanna Konta, claimed the opening set courtesy of just a single break of serve. Former world no.1 Wozniacki, who triumphed on the south coast as a tenacious teenager in 2009, dug deep but couldn't find a way... to stop Pliskova's powerful service game. The Dane, ever popular with the Centre Court crowd, gave her best but finished second best - something that has occurred before at Eastbourne for the no.6 seed. Pliskova will be hoping that history repeats itself as the last Czech to clinch the Eastbourne crown was Jana Novotna in 1998, who won Wimbledon a fortnight later. She admitted: "Definitely this year feels better, but my service is my biggest weapon and if it's working it causes the other player a lot of problems. "I'm going to go step-by-step, and hopefully I can go far at this year's Wimbledon."

Gael Monfils needed a fourth match point to seal a place in the AEGON International final against former world no.1 Novak Djokovic. The no.2 seed was involved in an entertaining yet enthralling Centre Court battle against French compatriot Richard Gasquet, registering a 6-2 6-7(7) 7-6(4) victory. It looked like smooth sailing for Monfils after speeding away with the opening set and racing to 5-4. But Gasquet, seeded no.7, saved two match points and took advantage of his oppon...ent's knee injury in the next game to move ahead. Monfils forced a tie-break that was a game of cat and mouse, fluffing a third match and then double faulting to gift Gasquet the set 9-7. With a place in the final beckoning, Monfils' nerves got the better of him and he failed to serve for the match at 5-4. With the contest on a knife-edge with a decisive tie-breaker it was Monfils who sealed success with the next match point against his close friend.

Novak Djokovic is one win away from his first grass court tournament crown since lifting the 2015 Wimbledon title. The world no.4 dashed the hopes of rising Russian star Daniil Medvedev 6-4 6-4 to reach the AEGON International final. And the top seed, a 12-time Grand Slam champion, has not dropped a set at Eastbourne's Devonshire Park all week. The Serb, who faces either France's Richard Gasquet or Gael Monfils next, admitted: "I couldn't be happier to reach the final."

Caroline Wozniacki will face Karolina Pliskova in the AEGON International final after the former world no.1 beat British hopeful Heather Watson in three sets. The 2009 Eastbourne champion proved too powerful for the ex-British no.1 to triumph on the sunny Centre Court 6-2 3-6 7-5. Wozniacki breezed away with the opening set by breaking Watson's serve three times before the fightback. The 25-year-old was in no mood to meekly surrender, so upped her game and dropped her nerves to level matters with commanding play to capture the second set. But experience, both on the WTA Tour and at Devonshire Park, paid dividends for the great Dane to snatch the decisive set by winning key points to move into the final against Czech Republic's Pliskova - who had a walkover victory over injured British no.1 Johanna Konta.

The Eastbourne-based 26-year-old was due to face Czech ace Karolina Pliskova.

Johanna Konta registered a dramatic Centre Court triumph against world no.1 and two-time Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber to reach the AEGON International semi-finals Yet a heavy fall on match point took the tarnish off the well-earned victory by the British no.1, who took a tumble attempting a return and was clearly distressed with a bump to her head that required medical treatment. But after a five-minute delay Konta sealed success on her fourth match point to register a 6-3 6-4 win. The 26-year-old, who faces Czech ace Karolina Pliskova next, admitted: "I slipped and hit my head, and it's a bit sore. "It's been a busy afternoon playing two matches, we've played a lot of tennis and I'm looking forward to recovering the best I can."

Richard Gasquet set up a fourth ATP Tour contest this campaign against French compatriot Gael Monfils after racing into the AEGON International semi-finals at the expense of American John Isner. Gasquet, the no.7 seed, dismissed South African giant Kevin Anderson 6-4 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals. Daniil Medvedev won back-to-back matches to earn a shot at reaching the AEGON International final, but former world no.1 Novak Djokovic stands in his way. The Russian saw off Holland's Robin Haase 4-6 6-1 6-2 in a match that had begun the day before. Then Medvedev turned on the style to despatch American no.4 seed Steve Johnson 6-3 2-6 6-3 on Court No.2.

But she overpowered the Romanian to pull off an emphatic 5-7 6-4 6-1 victory. And Czech ace Pliskova also bounced back from dropping the opening set to see off Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-7(9) 6-2 6-4.

Johanna Konta stunned French Open champion Jeļena Ostapenko in a high quality three-set thriller to progress at the AEGON International. The British no.1 reached the quarter-final stage with a 7-5 3-6 6-4 triumph over the talented teenager that finally got the subdued Centre Court crowd cheering. But it was a battle, as Konta appeared to be in trouble trailing 4-2 in the final set. The Latvian lost her way serving for a 5-2 lead, failing to win a single point and losing the game by challenging that Konta's thunderous drive was out when it clipped the line. Konta was tense serving for victory, fluffing two match points and faced a break point but pulled off the triumph with her third match point courtesy of a gutsy performance.

Novak Djokovic soared into the AEGON International semi-finals with a straight sets success over American Donald Young on Centre Court 6-2 7-6(9). The 12-time Grand Slam champion, seeded no.2 at next week's Wimbledon, eased through the opening set at Devonshire Park but had to fend off a pair of set points to seal victory. Novak Djokovic, who will be reunited with interim coach Andre Agassi at next week's Wimbledon, battled past Canadian Vasek Pospisil 6-4 6-3 to reach the last eight of the AEGON International. The world no.4 was made to work hard on his Eastbourne debut, but was given an extra lift by the appreciative fans on Centre Court. The pair had only played an ominous 13 points on Tuesday before the match was abandoned because of rain. But the 30-year-old Serb picked up the pieces and i...n a sensational contest ran out a worthy winner to claim his 25th ATP Tour triumph of the season. He enthused: "I've had a great couple of days of training with good players, different styles of game. "I felt good on the court, considering it's the first match. I've played against an opponent that has a really good game for grass. It was a really, really solid win." Djokovic, seeded no.2 at Wimbledon, is set to meet an American in Round 3 in the shape of either Jared Donaldson or Donald Young for a place in the semi-finals.
