Ebrd Trade Facilitation Programme Description

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) Trade Facilitation Programme (TFP) aims to promote foreign trade to, from and within the countries where the EBRD invests, including central and eastern Europe, central Asia and the southern and eastern Mediterranean region.

EBRD created the TFP to strengthen the capacity of local banks to provide international trade financing and through these banks give entrepreneurs the support they need to increase their access to import and export trade.

Under the programme, the EBRD provides guarantees to confirming banks, taking the political and commercial payment risk of international trade transactions undertaken by banks. The TFP can guarantee any genuine trade transaction and can also provide short-term loans to selected banks and factoring companies for on-lending to local exporters, importers and distributors.

The EBRD invests in changing people’s lives by working together with the private sector to invest in projects, engage in policy dialogue and provide technical advice that fosters innovation and builds sustainable and open market economies.

EBRD delivered a presentation for a group of professionals from Uzpromstroybank (UzPSB) on 28-29 January.
“PSB – 100” – is a special group consisting of 100 promising young professionals working at UzPSB (Industrial Construction Bank of Uzbekistan). The training aimed to prepare future leaders of UzPSB with deep knowledge of financial-banking system. 100 young professionals received series of trainings delivered by senior executives of UzPSB and representatives of IFIs opera...ting in Uzbekistan to address the current and future challenges in the banking system in Uzbekistan.
EBRD has also contributed to training by delivering a presentation on EBRD in Uzbekistan, EBRD’s partner banks, TFP product and EBRD’s TFP online training programme. The participants received their copies of TFP magazine issued regularly by TFP team of EBRD.

World Wide Experts organised the first commercial trade finance conference in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on 7-8 of November 2018. The event hosted hundreds of trade finance specialists, Central Bank of Uzbekistan and the Export Credit Agencies (ECA) from local, as well as leading Confirming Banks from abroad.
