Ecclesall Design goes to great lengths to gain planning permission for our clients to make sure that they have permission to build what they want (and are allowed to build). We then (if requested) undertake project management duties to make sure that what is actually built is compliant with that planning permission. Sometimes, there has to be compromise but we understand that the planning laws are in place to protect the greater environment, for the enjoyment of a wider public. The person in the following article decided to (seemingly) ride rough shod over his planning permission and the Council are now objecting. That seems fair to us. Why should one person decide that the law doesn't apply to him, when the majority abide by their planning permission?

Curious about those bright yellow cycles that you've seen 'abandoned' around Sheffield? No longer will you notice a yellow bike in a tree and wonder vaguely at the proceedings leading up to its placement. Maybe it's the hills. I'm not sure Sheffield (steepest street: Blake Street, gradient 16.6°) was an ideal location for a 'scan and go' 1000 hireable bike scheme. The company behind the idea, Ofo, has announced that it's pulling out of Sheffield.

Fantastic to see new plans for the 48-acre site of the old Sheffield ski village. A £22.5m investment would be great news not only for Sheffield but for anyone in the region who loves outdoor sports.

So. You have young children and live in a terraced house, like many folk in Sheffield. You engage an architect who designs a light and spacious extension to the rear. You, using hard and unforgiving materials such as floor tiles, create as many sharp corners as you can think of including strangely elevated floor areas that clearly create multiple trip hazards. Having run construction companies and railed at the unfairness of competing with other builders who aren't bothered about being HMRC-compliant (and don't let me get started on my insurance/Health & Safety rant), it is good to see that, "In a recent press release, HMRC urged underpaid workers to complain as figures show that the number of workers getting the money they're owed by employers has doubled after interventions by HMRC.
