As a professional counsellor my work brings me into contact with people from all walks of life. I find myself working with teachers, soldiers, business men and women, other professionals and so on. This is because everyone at some point in their life will have an issue or issues which may be causing them difficulties in their life for one reason or another.

I work with all kinds of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship issues, trauma, illness, abuse, military life issues and many more too numerous to mention.

Counselling can really help people explore their issues in a safe environment and enable them to make choices or changes in order to move forward with their lives. Evidence suggests that those who seek counselling support end up in a significantly better place than those who dont.

Sometimes people know from the moment they walk in the door that they are looking for long term counselling whereas for others just one or two sessions might be all that`s needed for them to make sense of their situation.

I certainly recommend attending an initial one off session to see how you feel about attending counselling and to then go away and consider booking further sessions.

It is really important when considering counselling that you choose a counsellor who is right for you, one that you feel comfortable sharing your story with and that seems to `get you or your situation.
