We had the most excellent meal, everything was beautifully cooked and presented, the staff were very attentive and friendly. The views were fantastic, we think the perfect place for a restaurant ! Shame they don't do bed and breakfast! We would definitely stay for a holiday !

User

The Eddystone has a wonderful menu catering for most tastes. The food, is excellent, it’s fresh and piping hot and the staff are a delight. Nothing is too much trouble. It’s my favourite place to take my visiting family and friends. The views are incredible and it’s clean and welcoming. I hope not too many will read this because there will be less room for us if everyone starts going !!!

User

It used to be my local years ago when Sue and jez ran it... I went back possibly last year and was unimpressed by the menu, it was very bare to say the least and there were no vegetarian options. I saw the Fb post a couple of days ago regarding their new menu and decided to give it a go... I'm glad I did, the food was brilliant, there's a decent amount of vegetarian options, toys and colouring thing for the kids, polite staff... I am curious as to where the pool table, darts board and quiz machine have gone, but all we had a lovely meal and will certainly be returning again!! It was odd being there not for a darts match though!!

User

Great spot with plenty of room to eat inside and out. Views overlooking the coast. Great food and lovely service.

User

Great location, lovely food and great service and dogs welcome

User

Good food, great view, good service, even entertainment which was pleasant, will return

User

Fantastic place to have a meal and a pint with stunning sea views, that are some of the best in Devon.

User

Decided to pay a visit for a meal with my husband as I had looked online at their menu, so much better than it used to be!

We opted for a nibbles starter each but to be honest we could have shared it as there was more than enough

Our mains quickly followed and my husband particularly loved the triple cooked chips, possibly the best he has ever had!

We struggled to finish our mains so had no room for pudding

All in all an enjoyable meal, pleasant view although we couldn't get to sit on the terrace as it was full due to the weather being beautiful.

We will return

Booked for a family birthday party. Food was lovely and well presented, dessert was delicious!! Staff were very friendly and welcoming. My daughter is dairy intolerant we often find it difficult to eat out especially finding a dessert she can eat but staff couldn't have been more helpful and even came up with a pudding just for her! Definitely would go there again

User

Amazing food and lovely atmosphere. We had a table of 14 and every single person loved their meal and we will definitely be returning. Thank you x

User

Absolutely amzing place food was fabulous staff were extremely friendly and the inn was lovely and clean super views from garden will definitely be back

User

We visited the Eddystone Inn for our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed with the food but the service could have been better.

It started well but we ended up leaving before pudding as it took far too long for the main plates to be cleared. The pub was not overly busy and the table behind us arrived after us but was cleared and served before us, while we still sat waiting.

The owner was keen and happy to discuss our feedback.

We are looking forward to returning and giving it another go - even if it's for our pudding

User

Great view whatever time of the year but on good days bring sat on the patio was epic. Good food and good service.

User

Best view ever ! Lovely tables, well spaced, no sitting on top of strangers. Not the most varied menu but enough to suit everyone's taste. Starters and dessert menu could probably have a bit more on offer but everything is cooked to perfection. I had the steak which was just about the best steak I can remember eating in a long while and my companion had the chicken burger. This was cooked with the most tender of chicken pieces, only downfall was the bottom bread roll was smothered in pickle (not mentioned on the menu). If we had known we would have asked for it not to have been added. Besides that, compliments to the chef, fresh cooked food, served quickly by friendly helpful staff. Couldn't knock it (except for the pickle), definitely be going back !

User

Good food but really slow service which when it finally did arrive was incorrect.

Due to this we could not all eat at the same time whilst trying to celebrate a special family occasion which was disappointing.

User

Went there for a birthday meal with my family. When we arrived the staff were friendly they quickly took our orders and we received our mains in a good amount of time. But as soon as more tables turned up it seemed we were no longer important. We sat with our dirty dishes for a long time but oh well so we got a member of staff's attention and they cleared them. We decided to stay for desert we were told they had run out of vanilla ice cream but wasn't an issue. We ordered our deserts and waited for 30 minutes only to be told that they had run out of the desert I had ordered and then 10 minutes later we were told that they had run out of another desert. So we sat around waiting for 40 minutes for deserts they didn't have. We were very disappointed promptly paid and left feeling unsatisfied. Wish we hadn't booked.

User

Walked an hour an a half to one of our favourite pubs. Arrived and bumped into our friends who were celebrating a 40th birthday.

We came inside as the sun went down and our friends asked us to join them. We made our choices and went to order to be told no food was available as they had run out.

We were good natured despite the inconvenience but the barman charged my friends £1 for not spending the £10 card limit!!! She would have spent £50+ if they been able to provide food so utterly disgusted they had the audacity to charge her. She was too polite to argue!

We went to The Bridge in Mountbatten and had a lovely meal.

Have to its not the first time we've arrived and not been able to have food but thought they'd go over that!!

When all is normal they would get a 4* more for the view as food is fair to middling.

I booked a table for 19:00 for the Eddystone Inn on Thursday 14 September for a meal on 30 September. I was informed at the time of booking that there was a party of 43 people in on the same night so there wasn't any space in the kitchen so the woman on the phone said she'd have to speak to her manager and see if we could sit in the bar area. The woman phoned me back and asked if I minded sitting in the bar area to which I replied that I didn't mind.

We arrived at 19:00 and were shown to our table and we ordered our drinks then. The drinks were brought to us promptly along with the menu. The person serving us said that unfortunately they didn't have any Chilli Con Carne. We looked through the menu and then made our choices and the food arrived about 30 minutes later. My husband ordered a well done steak but it wasn't quite cooked through and I ordered a chicken curry but the curry was quite watery; it wasn't the best curry. I know I didn't say anything on the night but I didn't want to ruin a 'special' evening - we were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday.

We finished our main meal and waited and waited but no-one was coming over to collect the dirty plates. Eventually I managed to catch the eye of one of the people serving and he came and collected the dishes and it was at that point that I said we would like to order desserts. He said that there was no vanilla ice cream so we looked at the other choices on the menu and then said we were ready to order. We ordered our dessert and sat and waited and waited until around 30 minutes later the person that had previously served us said there was no chocolate sauce for the waffles, why it took 30 minutes to tell us I'll never know!! The person that ordered the chocolate waffles said she would go without dessert. Another few minutes went by then a woman came over and said sorry but there is no peanut butter ice cream; that is what I ordered, to which I replied do not bother, we won't have any desserts. I asked for the bill to which we paid.

When paying the bill they said sorry for not having the desserts we wanted but they had had a lot of people in that night. I booked the table for 30 September on 14 September and was informed then that there was no room in the restaurant that night hence asking me if I minded sitting in the bar. They had plenty of time to prepare for a busy night so shouldn't have run out of certain foods, this is very poor planning. Suffice to say I will not be going there again.
