I'm lucky to live under the Northern Pennines one of the least populated parts of England , our farm is half way between the villages of Renwick and Kirkoswald. The lanes are very quiet ideal for a daily walk or cycle and on a sunny day the views are just breath taking. Stay safe everyone where ever you may live π
The joy of farming is working from home, John on the old Massy tractor harrowing the rear fields in the Easter sunshine.π
A bit of a sheep fix for you all , these are the girls and last year's lambs they will need shearing soon. They came into yard for a check up before moving to the front field where the grass is finally starting to grow. π
This was the 3rd April last year 2019 a sudden fall of snow. This winter has been very mild and wet hardly any snow fall and spring dry so far , what will summer bring?
Finally a lovely still warm spring day, I'm in the veg garden and the tups just have to come and watch but oh don't they smell πshould keep any insects and germs away π
Farming carries on with the annual lime of our fields a bit of a dust cloud, the granules will gradually dissolve keeping the pasture nice and sweet.
Finally we get a dry sunny day to look at the flock. Foot bath and check 5 at a time it's a few hours to do all 54 sheep , some nice fleeces growing and most seem to have faired the horrid wet winter well.
Lunch time congestion on road heavily pregnant ewe's that just didn't want to go up hill took 20 minutes to do about 1/4 mile before I could turn off home and they still had another 2 miles to go, life in Cumbria at sheep pace π
Cute but important to all dog owners
Well that's the last of my palest lambs fleece carded only mid and dark grey left. Wonderful for hand spinning then knitting into a beautiful warm lightweight shawl or lacy scarf. Just email me if you would like any carded lambs wool. edengotlandsheep@hotmail.co.uk

At long last a good dry day for a general tidy up around the farm. A good trailer load of chipping for my garden and a happy man who loves playing with machinery π
