On behalf of the Edge Hill Tigers Rugby League team we would like to congratulate all A-Level students on their results and hope you got what you needed. We also would like to welcome all prospective students to Edge Hill University. If you’re an experienced rugby league player, why not come and join the most successful and highest ranked team in the uni? With a successful past record and finishing 2nd in the Northern 1A league and reaching the semi final of the cup last yea...r. We have had a number of players on sports scholarships, representing regional sides and 2 players representing England Universities, and that’s just last year! Come and test yourself in a competitive and fun environment and try and achieve the same accolades if you wish to achieve them. We also invite students with little experience down on a Monday evening to train with the team and to give it a try. If it’s not for you, you can always stick around to come out on our Wednesday socials. On a Wednesday night these are the best times to go out for a drink. By dressing up as a team and having a good laugh you can celebrate a win and have a good night doing so.
For more information on the team and socials follow us on Facebook, Twitter(@edgehilltigers) and Instagram(@edgehilltigers) and come and see us at the freshers fair on the 18th of September to talk to various committee members about training times, expectations for the season, socials and our yearly tour to Europe!

So close! If the ball had only gone 10 yards left, there had been no wind and had been hit with a lot more power that would have ALMOST gone over!

The last league game was played today against an always strong Salford side. Match report to follow.
Salford drew first blood after some early attack on the Edge Hill line. They continued to pile on the pressure by adding to the scoreboard in quick succession. Plagued by injuries, it looked like it was going to be a long day at the office for the depleted side. However, never the ones to stop trying, the Tigers rallied together and fought back... and continued to lay siege on... the Salford defence. Tom Millington and Josh Mousdell took control of the pack, followed by standout fresher Harry Phillips. The three giants took multiple drives each set, selfless play by doing the hard graft in order to set the stage for the backs to play. The Tigers fought back and by halftime, a comeback victory was in touching distance, Edge Hill 12- 14 Salford at halftime.
Some hard hitting defence from wingers Jack Heels and Brett Ashurst made sure that the lethal threat from an exceptional Salford centre who initially tore through the line was quickly extinguished. Jake Morris was a new man in the centres, ripping through the Salford side and a phenom in defence. Nay Taylor led the Tigers round the field with some excellent kicking. Returning to the side after a long hiatus was Connor Leyland, a man who has fought hard all year for a starting role and who played excellent.
The Tigers began to capitalise on fatigued players and started to put some serious points on the board. Back to back tries followed with some fantastic link up play between Millington and Moose causing havoc for the Salford side.
The Tigers began to turn the screw and were able to score some well worked, team tries out wide with Ashurst scoring on the left (video attached).
Union convert Gregory Antonio put some great footwork on near the line and crashed over for four points, not five...
Jobe Frederick Roxby scored a brilliant solo effort, receiving the ball at his feet and improvising a grubber kick through the legs of a defender to ground the ball in the corner.
Jack Heels rounded off the game with a fantastic conversion effort. Unsuccessful but a world class effort in entertainment.
Final score Edge Hill 48-20 Salford
Try scorers:
Moose 3, Harry 1, Millo 2, Jobe 1, Brett 1, Greg 1
Conversions:
Taylor 6/8 Heels 0/1
A fantastic end to the league for a team that have stuck together and caused a few upsets along the way. A game that started badly and which could have ended up an embarrassing scoreline was turned around and rectified due to the lads playing their hearts out for each other.
It will be a tough decision for Coach Callum for next game against Northumbria in the semi finals of the cup.
