i went here this week for the first time and have already left anrevirw but felt after reading some people’s reviews that this needed to be said. i am an ex chef of 24 years. seeing what some people have wrote angers me. customers do t realise the pressure of the trade. when you have a restaurant full and orders galore. the chefs are working non stop in a very hot environment with so much on there mind. i would like to see the customers do the same. we slave away for no thanks in a job that had had no pay rise in inflation in the last 15 years. we’re there from 9 in the morning sometimes earlier to some times 1am the next morning. and if some one is off sick th others just have to pick up the already immense pace. and as for the front of house staff. they have to walk miles every night back and forth dealing with awful customers. unruly kids who should be under control. but the patents are to busy txtin or talking to care. and as for customers who swear. you try going up to a bunch of mouthy people and telling them to keep it down or stop swearing. if the police cannot do it. how does a waitress do it. so what if you have to wait for your food. it’s being cooked fresh. and if you think mcdonald’s would be better. go there because you don’t deserve to frequent a place as food as egos. go get your processed meat burger and fries and milkshake........

User

Well what another lovely evening spent at egos, we are never let down by the food or service here and would highly recommend to anyone thinking about going, the atmosphere is very chilled and the service make the evening amazing, a big Thankyou to Katie for being perfect

User

User

Great food and great deal on a Monday, 2 courses and a bottle of wine, we came here last night and our waitress Phoebe provided excellent customer service, very polite and friendly, we will be back!

User

Arrived early thinking we could have a drink at the bar big mistake it took nearly 30 minutes to get served, table booked for 7.30 didn’t get our table till 7.50 we thought the restaurant was very noisy certainly not a relaxing atmosphere but the service was good and the food excellent

User

A lovely meal and great service from a genuine waitress, I would like to thank Natasha and her team for a great evening

I tried the Tapas menu I loved the belly pork and the mussels the salmon fish cakes a little dry but not unenjoyable, my husband had the T-bone steak thank you again team Ego

User

We went for my husbands birthday as we had received a birthday voucher after signing up to receive offers. Buy one get one free. We had calamari to start & fillet steak, both were very tasty. Our waitress phoebie was very pleasant and helpful.

User

Visited yesterday for a Mothers Day treat, I found it lovely and all our meals were well presented and enjoyed. We visited as there is a Vegan menu however would suggest some milk alternative is available at such a small cost so a coffee or tea can be purchased alongside the meal. We will definetly visit again.

User

Only popped in for a drink but did like it...Only down fall was that I didn't like was the smokeing out side at the tables there's no real place to eat out with out getting a smoker by you there was a conservatory but it didn't seem to have tables to eat at was a bit dissipointed with the set up

User

8 of us went last night we had 3 birthdays in our group, lovely atmosphere, food was lovely, how ever do think that the fries/chips need to be altered they couldn't have been any thinner and were very stick like, much better to have a nice chunky chip. But always enjoy going to the "Holly Bush" and last night was no different, there was some trouble brewing on the car park when we came out with a group of lads but a couple of them diffused it and they went off in a taxi, think probably the new cocktail area may encourage a little too much over indulging.

But will go again.

User

went Thursday evening starter was much better than the main.i chose the mixed kebab main course which sounded lovely but was very disappointing.dry meats no sign of the lamb and very overpriced for what amounted to about 8 cubes of chicken.steak and chorizo. was only average last time we ate their but gave them the benefit and tried it again. the girl behind the bar was abrupt and rude and needs therapy and a personality transplant. we wont be back

User

Valentines night meal, booked 2 weeks previously, on arrival was told were not on the system and had no reservation, luckily we booked early 5.30 so they sorted us a table, I should imagine if it was later we would have been turned away as it was packed by the time we left at 7.30, unfortunately I was disappointed that There was no valentines ambiance what so ever, no rose or flowers on the tables, no balloons or anything to make it feel like a special night, yes they had a valentines menu and wine/cocktail selection but to be honest the food served was no different that you could have any other night, nothing special about it, it did not feel like a special night at all, we felt very rushed to get in and out as no soon as our plate was cleared the next course was put on the table all to clear us out in a timely fashion for the next sitting, this I understand does happen in some restaurants if they have 2 sittings but we were not informed of this until our desert when we asked for a bit of time before the desert and I could tell there was some issue so I asked was the table booked for another sitting and we were told yes. I politely offered to leave the table and sit in the conservatory and have a cocktail so that they could turn the table. I have been to ego many many times and have always enjoyed the food and modern relaxed atmosphere but I doubt I would advise anyone that it was a lovely place to go for a special night like valentines I would rather go somewhere with a valentines theme that made some effort to make it feel special this was a big let down.

User

The restaurant was very busy not a lot of choice on rose wine. We were sat at the table we ordered our food took a very long time for the starters and then the main came only three meals brought to the table waited another 5 minutes for the fourth meal to come as well as our pototoes. The lamb was nice but needed a steak knife to cut it . Never were we asked if the meal was ok just lots of waiting. Dessert was nice

User

Its a nice relaxed atmosphere. Service at the bar is extreamly slow. Food is average, and extreamly overpriced for the size and overall quality of the meal.....wouldnt return for another meal. Waiting on staff were helpfull and friendly enough. Drinks are also over priced.

User

Been a couple of times. Booked a table but it wasn't ready. Ordered diet coke...wasn't diet. Ordered water for the table...never came. Food took aaaages so asked how long it's be then got told there was a wait after we ordered and asked why it was so long. Food was ok. Staff were polite enough but didn't really seem to care. Definitely needs improving.

User

Not that best. Cocktails where dreadful for the price of them just tasted like watered down juice. very over priced the food was not great very bland did not enjoy at all. However we ordered desert only to find 2 hairs within this. Will not be returning to ego!

User

My husbands birthday evening was ruined. It was so packed to the rafters, tables too close together we were sat next to the loudest group of girls we couldn’t hear each other at all. They were not just talking they were shouting and didn’t stop the whole time we were having our meal. The noise in the place was horrendous people were just shouting, taken over I fear by the young cocktail drinkers consuming too much alcohol

User

Main wasn’t great at all, gravy was watery and Yorkshire puddings were very doughy. There was also chewing gum stuck under the salt container and we didn’t realise until after our meal when we had already used it. We told the staff and all they replied with was, eeew.... won’t be eating here again but it does look lovely. I may return to try just drinks instead

User

Place looks the part, but ..... Arrived to be told they was a hour wait in the restaurant, so decided to eat in the bar wish we haven't had bothered, Mc Donald's would have been a better option !!!

Food came out After a 45 minute wait, only just warm and dry, was waiting for someone come over to check if our meals was ok, but no one did so I just ate it as i was starving and didn't want to wait another 45 minutes . When the young lad waiter came to collect our plates, I told him I was not happy with my meal and it was not very warm and his ONLY reply was OK !! and walked off . We spend over £60 and definitely expected more , And not worth the money . Very disappointed. Expected better ....
