El Piano Cookbook Description
Now into our 19th year, we remain on track: vegan, gluten free, nut free and palm oil free. Our mission is sustainability, exemplifying simple good food, sourcing locally where we can, teaching others how to do it, paying wages that people can live on, heating with refrigeration and cooking effluence and using windows & doors for air conditioning!
We are happy to take daytime reservations for 4 or more, for any wheelchair users or special occasions. Otherwise, people just come & are seated on arrival.
For evening time, we recommend reserving a table because we never know if we are going to be busy or quiet!
We stop serving tables around an hour before close.
We don't just sell food, we sell cookbooks, rugs, kits, ceramics, novels and hampers. Check out our website or ring us!

What a wonderful, wonderful evening we had on Thursday. Customers, suppliers and staff from down the years. Food, laughter and many memories were talked about.

Good Evening El Piano Land!
As one of YorkвАЩs most established restaurants we are hanging up our aprons at the end of August.
We are moving on. Our job is done. Twenty one years of blazing the vegan and gluten-free trail has led us all to the happy point where almost all eateries in York, indeed across the UK, are now offering vegan and gluten-free options.
... But the ovens will not go cold! We are delighted that one of YorkвАЩs most vibrant chefs will soon pick up where we left off.
Watch this space...we know youвАЩll be as excited as we are about whatвАЩs to come.
It has been our absolute pleasure to serve you all these years and we thank you for your loyalty and support. You will still be able to find us and our products, recipes, videos and books online.
El PianoвАЩs last day of cooking will be Thursday 30th August and the current team will close the doors at around 5pm. The premises are then scheduled for refurbishment throughout September, with an opening date to be announced.
