I use it a lot for Diving and paddle boarding all year round and have done for over 10 years. Good facilities and local

North Yorkshire Scouts has a base at Lake Ellerton which is really good. Some of our leaders, Cubs and Scouts have enjoyed sailing with them and a smaller number have done some paddlesports too. The facilities are basic (what do you really expect) but are suitable for our needs. The Scouts have a little bit of land that is theirs but we use the shared toilets. Certainly all the Scout leaders are friendly and helpful. There is a seperate area for swimming from the main boating area which helps minimise any problems. It can be a bit like dodgems getting up to the far end of the lake at times if there are a lot of other users about though. (That is where we tend to do most of our sailing.) The nearer bit gets used for paddlesports.

Nice changing facilities and warm showers. Lovely water, a good place to train.

Was rudely told my son couldn't swim in part of the lake even though a scout group that was canoeing were also swimming in the Lake. Didn't mind taking him out it was the way I was spoken to. £7 per person to use the carpark and lake, poor facilities and grumpy owners. Not recommend.

Lovely venue if you want to relax or use the facilities to train, swim, time, etc. There's a lovely cafe on site and the multi sports shop above is fantastic.

Great place for swimming and more, close by to me. Would definitely reccommend

I use this for diving as it is very close to where I live and us only £7.
I would describe this place as cheap and cheerful however there's no airs here with the closest been stockton which I ain't to keen on using, the butty van gets there around 08.30 but only on sat and Sun.
The viz can vary here and is best to stay away from persons training as the bottom sirs easily. There are perch pike and some big carp in here, more easily seen in warm weather.
The depth can touch 9 metres aver the back near a sunken caravan, there are a few cars, van, boat and a number of training platforms in there too.

The owners can be grumpy and seem abit stuck up, it's best to have your 7 quid ready hand it over and walk away.
I prefer getting changed in the car park as the changing room/ toilets are honking. But on the whole water is water and diving is ace so just focus on what matters.

Nice place perfect for water sports. But I took my dogs along unaware dogs weren't allowed. The lady was very rude when telling me. Manners cost nothing and speaking to people appropriately should always be paramount. This reason I would not go again.

I am ashamed at the standards of this place. I came here for a nice day out not to be ridiculed by the owner. Wouldn't recommend to anyone hoping to have a nice day out on the lake.
