Elterwater Hostel Description
The hostel is located in the peaceful village of Elterwater, in the Langdale valley, 15 minutes drive from Ambleside. The area has many walks for people of all abilities, from gentle riverside meanders to the challenge presented by the Langdale Pikes, Bowfell and Scafell. Banks, shops and other amenities are available in Ambleside. The area is also a favourite for both on and off-road cycling, rock climbing and many other outdoor activities. An ideal overnight stop on the Cumbria way. The hostel is an ideal venue for individuals, families, outdoor groups, schools and college trips.

We had a super time at Elterwater in January. It was so warm and cosy and comfortable. It's in a fabulous spot. We booked the whole hostel and stated to celebrate our friends 50th. We had lots of children with us from tots to teens and they all loved it.
Was a few months ago, but had an excellent time over a long weekend with group of friends. Cooked own food at night, but breakfasts great.
Very comfortable accomodation, wonderful home cooked food, and the most friendly and knowledgable staff. Excellentl! Made our weekend. Thank you so much x
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, lovely friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble! Really picturesque spot as well! Would definitely go back!
Impossible to think of a way this hostel could be improved. Fantastic hosts and excellent accommodation - and a location to die for.

Great hostel in a superb location for walking in the Langdale valley. They staff are friendly and helpful. They were particularly supportive as I injured my wrist on a walk during a stay at the hostel in September and the staff gave me lots of advice about local hospitals and took the time to check how I was doing every day after that! Much appreciated.
Great food, comfortable rooms. Communal area is great for a group. Very comfortable couches, could spend a whole evening chilling out in this hostel quite happily.
