First ever, Silver Gilt -awarded Finnish garden titled 'Roots in Finland Kyrö Garden' at #ChelseaFlowerShow, designed by the wonderful Taina Suonio. Wonderful team effort from Kyrö Distillery, silversmith Ru Runeberg, Marimekko, Artek, Tapio Anttila, Loimaan Kivi, Kekkilä and many, many others!

This year marks the centenary of the diplomatic relations between Finland and the United Kingdom. On 6 May 1919, the UK recognised Finland as an independent state.
Last Wednesday 8 May, the anniversary was celebrated at Ambassador Päivi Luostarinen's residence in London. Professor Henrik Meinander from University of Helsinki gave a keynote on the common history of the two countries, covering political, economic, social & cultural relations.

Today marks the centenary of the diplomatic relations between Finland and the UK. One hundred years ago today, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland received a letter from the UK Foreign Office stating that the UK recognises the independence of Finland.
Sata vuotta sitten tänään Suomen Ulkoministeriö - utrikesministeriet vastaanotti kirjeen, jossa kerrottiin Britannian tunnustaneen Suomen itsenäisyyden. Tänä vuonna juhlitaan Suomen ja Britannian diplomaattisuhteiden satavuotistaivalta.
