Called an embassy to gather information about registering a child as Latvian citizen, (One parent is Latvian citizen). I was given incorrect information as well as very rudely pointed towards the website to seek for any information. The trick is that all the consular information is in Latvian only. But I speak English and do not understand any Latvian. Hence the reason why I called them in the first place.

Lazy and unprofessional people work there. Nationalists that refuse to speak or simply are not educated enough to speak other the saint Language - Latvian :) it was very funny to speak with them as I haven't met anyone like this for a long time. I am surprised that there is still such a practice. Also they hung up telling me that all the info is available on their website.

Always check your documents in time!!!
Of course it's not always easy to reach the embassy by phone.
If it's not busy time it is possible!
When you plan your visit to the embassy make a phone call and ask them when it's not a busy time.
I applied for 3 pasports and serviss were excellent.
I've been in embassy in January and it was very good time because there were only few people and there were not time delays.
We paid for partking more than required...2-3hours
I have been very surprised about that.
I like the new building and system they have got.
The only thing they really could do to be just a nice people to others.
I believe to most of the comments regarding the language.
They really could speak fluet English as they are UK Embassy maybe they have very strict rools to speak only LATVIAN language.
Who knows.

Rubbish service .. never pick up the phone .. 1 year waiting and answer and still waiting .

awful service, as a citizen of a country that became independant due to USSR collapsing and forced me to learn their useless language, i had no intention of speaking it, so embassy workers have a decent english but the accent is terrible, ain't able to speak russian as well and the reasons for that is we're in an embassy in UK, hell you supposed to speak it when you have 25-30% of core population that are native russian speakers.

Went to apply for new passport, as the old one expired. Pleased to say that I received new passport in two weeks, even though it was meant to be five.
Didn't like over an hour waiting time - why book appointment then? Was told off when phoned to extend parking (as I didn't expect to wait for such long time) and even after explaining why I am calling, they still were funny about it...
I would give 5* if waiting times were indicated more clearly and staff were a bit more aware on how parking in Central London works.

I didn't see any problems with any person in office to be honest. And looks like most of the bad feed back giving the people with Russian sure name or Nationality. When I was there, i seen 2 Russian(only) people arguing about some things they actually had to sort them selves before they come to that office. Personally me, i received my own passport even earlier then I expected.5 star to all women in that office. And 5 star to that service

Apaprt from the nice lady which took my picture and received my payment, the service was appaling. The lady on front counter absolutely refused to speak English to me and "assumed i knew latvian because i hold a latvian passport". That is an absolute joke, they should understand that we are in the UK and some people have been here in England for many years, therefore forgetting the Latvian language. Secondly, in Riga, not everybody speaks Latvian and a large number of the population also speak Russian. So for them to turn around and be rude to me because i do not know Latvian is absolutely appaling. If i could make a formal complaint which would actually get seen and read,i honestly would. Anyone visiting the Consular section, i would advise to have someone Latvian speaking with you, as even when yu do speak English to them, they reply in Latvian which is no use to someone who does not speak it.

Great service and lovely ladies working there.Latvian people with Latvian passports should speak Latvian and there won't be any issues there. There is only one national official language
