About Emil Dales School Of Performing Arts

More West End performers teaching every week. Our own 12, 000 sq ft facilities 5 studios! Our own talent agency for TV /FILM /THEATRE.

Emil Dales School Of Performing Arts Description

Emil Dale’s School of Performing Arts in Hitchin, Hertfordshire & Cambridge, Cambridgeshire is the most professional part-time independent school in the area, offering comprehensive training, which concentrates on many different disciplines: singing technique, acting for screen, song & dance, contemporary, commercial dance, jazz, choral singing, voice, articulation, contemporary, audition technique & many more.

All our teachers have been trained professionally at top drama /musical theatre schools in London and are currently working in the business.

EDSA train for 3. 5 hours a week, not the usual 3 hours. This allows our members to take 5 disciplines a week with 5 different teachers, which is unique to EDSA Hitchin. EDSA do not train in classrooms or school halls and have the best facilities in the area. Members train in 5 professional studios with mirrors, sprung floors & even air conditioning. EDSA are proud to have 10 teams of age groups /abilities, which means we deliver the most age appropriate classes in the county. Other schools split similar age ranges across only 3 groups.

EDSA employ a professional company /welfare manager to look after members and their families. EDSA also have a full-time office in Letchworth, where they run their own talent agency. EDSA are driven by passion, not profit, and are big enough to count, while being small enough to care.
Come join our family and see for yourself. Apply now for a FREE TASTER SESSION
There are no other performing arts schools in this area which offer training to this standard.

We provide the best guest teachers from London's West End and Uk number one tours without having to leave Hertfordshire.

We accept young people from 6-21 years old, from beginners to advanced.
Our next weekend school audition is this Sunday. The weekend school meets from 10: 00am-1: 30pm and 2: 30pm-6: 30pm weekly, at North Hertfordshire College, Centre for the Arts in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

We aim to inspire young people, learn from the professionals of today and become one of the professionals of tomorrow.

Get Involved, Be Inspired! . . .

Advice to someone auditioning: I would say just be yourself and try your hardest, give it your all and make sure you know all your material thoroughly but mainly have fun!! The team want to see you so enjoy yourself.
Why Emil Dale? Emil Dale Academy just felt right for me. When I came to the open day I just fell entirely in love with the place and the ethos of the school, I believed that it would push me to the best of my abilities and I was right.
What’s the hardest thing about EDA? The long days are hard, but you get used to them and you realise that it is the best for you and your training. The longer the day, the more information you are absorbing. The more we are pushing ourselves, the more we are learning and I think that is very important.
What’s the best thing about EDA? Everyone is so supportive of each other and no one is left to feel uncomfortable or judged. The teachers are supportive and I know I am always in safe hands. I have already improved so much thanks to every single one of them believing in me.

... 1. My advice to anyone auditioning is to BE POSITIVE! Believe in yourself, everyone is here to support you. Smile and perform your best even though you may be panicking inside, they are looking for potential! Also have fun and relax, enjoy the routine and make it your own. Add your personality into the dance if you are able to! Relax before singing and don't panic over singing in-front of people, just focus on yourself and doing the best you can do. Be yourself and give it your all.
2. I chose to train at the Emil Dale Academy as they have equal training in all aspects of Musical Theatre preparing you for a career as a strong triple threat. I have only been dancing since the age of 13 and I felt like the Emil Dale Academy would push me and help me progress from strength to strength and that is exactly what they have done! The teachers are so kind and it really helps having industry professionals teaching us as we gain so much more knowledge and advice as they have been in our position before! The atmosphere is also so lovely and we are all one large family.
3. I feel the hardest thing about training at EDA is the long school hours. Although i'm in my element all day everyday, training from 8.30-6 everyday is sometimes very difficult as we don't have much time in the evenings and staying many more hours than we are used to. If you have the right food and drink to give you energy you are okay. We have study time sessions a few times a week which gives us time to do logs etc which also helps. It is also difficult traveling and students have to wake up even earlier and get to school early and get home very late.
4. My favourite thing about EDA are the ensemble singing lessons. When we are all together as a year group/ dance set, the sounds we create as a company/ ensemble are absolutely breathtaking and you get to sing a range of ensemble songs from all types/genres of musicals. It has also helped me discover many new musicals with brilliant scores and lyrics.

#EmilDaleAdvent 12 days of Christmas + BOXING DAY 😊

On Boxing Day my true love gave to me Olivia Hallett on our 2 Year Sixth Form course.
... My advice for anyone auditioning at the Emil Dale Academy is to be yourself, you are an individual and therefore shouldn’t compare yourself to others, everyone has different strengths and weaknesses and the panel are looking for potential and nice people, be nice and it’ll take you most of the way!
My reason for training at Emil Dale was the immediate sense of family as soon as you walk in the building. EDA pride themselves on an open door policy, meaning you can speak to anyone at anytime about absolutely anything! Teachers treat you like professionals but still understand how difficult the training process can be and work so hard to make sure you’re pushed to your limits in a safe and healthy way!
The hardest thing about training at the Emil Dale Academy is the emotional and physical toll it has on you. The world of musical theatre isn’t easy and working early morning to evening, 5 times a week isn’t easy, but like with anything you do, the payoff of working to your absolute best is such an incredible feeling!
My favourite thing about the Emil Dale Academy is you are encouraged to be you, everyone in our year group is different, we all look different, sound different and bring a variety of strengths to different classes. It is amazing because not only are you learning from industry professionals but you are learning from your peers every single day. My best friends at EDA and my whole year in general are some of the most talented people and I am really grateful to be able to train alongside them!

#EmilDaleSpareChair2018 OFFICIAL VIDEO - Merry Christmas everyone!
On Thursday 6th December we hosted a truly special Spare Chair event for people in our local community @ www.emildale.co.uk for people who may feel isolated. This was all held at our studios in Hitchin - Emil Dale Academy.
With the help of some very kind volunteers and local businesses, we were able to cook a three-course meal accompanied by wonderful songs performed by our talented students.
... We would like to thank everyone involved in supporting this event and those who made contributions (be it in time or kind donations).
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts:
Hitchin Priory (for sharing plates, cutlery, chairs...) Paul @ Bespoke Signs (for the beautiful window displays) The Hermitage, Hitchin (for donating wine) B&M, Hitchin (for donating Christmas decorations) Wyevale Garden Centre, Letchworth (for donating a beautiful Christmas tree) Kenhurst (for providing us with traditional Christmas dinner meat and produce) Jasper's Hire (for providing us with a Hot Box keeping our Christmas dinner warm throughout the preparation) Mosaic Flowers, Hitchin (for donating gorgeous centre pieces) Storm Lighting (for providing amazing lighting equipment)
Another thank you to those who donated gifts, food, gave monetary contributions, volunteered during the event itself and offered lifts for our attendees:
Donna Knight, Michelle Wilson, Sal Gibson, Anne Burgess, Sean Maxwell, Sandra Charlotte Hay, Laura Hall, Sharon Braxton, Charlotte Storey, Hillary Withers, Stephanie Clements, Deano Kirkbride, Jackie Reid, Laura Hall, Diane Mouskovious, Cheryl McNally, Kevin Hammond, Jim Fleet, Lesley Newman, Julie Cambridge, Elise Callaghan, Sean Callaghan, Eleni Howe, Dianne Hammond & Jule Bryne
A special mention to Jesse Clements and Gemma Smart for all their additional help!
We could not have done all of this without help from you all.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas!
Emil & the team at Emil Dale Academy.

#EmilDaleAdvent 12 days of Christmas.
On Christmas Day my true love gave to me Lorenza Michelucci-Dunn on the first year of our BA (hons)
Want in? It’s here www.emildale.co.uk/EDA admissions@emildale.co.uk 01462 677 808
... 1) Be yourself. You might be exactly who EDA are looking for. It is also really important to be nice and approachable!
2) The second I walked into EDA I knew I wanted to train here. The atmosphere is fun, inviting and everyone here does their utmost to make you feel comfortable and content. The training here is equally balanced across all three disciplines and because of the small class sizes we get thorough individual feedback regularly.
3) The hardest thing about training at the Emil Dale Academy is cardio every morning.
4) My favourite thing about EDA is the supportive atmosphere and all the amazing teachers we have in everyday.

On the 24th Day of Christmas my true love gave to me.... Toby Turpin!!
... Name: Toby Turpin
Course: 2 Year Sixth Form Course!
What advice would you give to people auditioning for the Emil Dale Academy? Just be yourself and try your hardest to do everything at the best you can; you don’t want to walk away from the audition thinking “I could’ve done that” (and tape you’re sheet music😜).
What was your reason for training at the Emil Dale Academy? I wanted to train at EDA because there isn’t anywhere like it; the teachers are the best of the best, the students are friendly and there is a real family feel to the place.
What is the hardest thing about training at the Emil Dale Academy? The hardest thing for me is actually remembering I am on a BTEC course! You are treated like a degree student, you are given the same training that a degree student is given and the performance opportunities are the same!
What is your favourite thing about the Emil Dale Academy? My favourite thing about EDA is that there isn’t a specific focus on any particular discipline, your time is spent evenly doing acting, singing and dancing whereas most drama schools spend their time training you in either one or two of the three disciplines.

When we were told it would cost £30 each to watch an amateur production of Hairspray we balked at the thought. But we knew someone very special to us in the cast so we said let's go and see.

Wow, how wrong could we have been? Amateur production? Every bit as professional as any West End or touring show we have been to & we have seen more than our fair share. With the stage the way it is set up, you feel part of the show not a part of an audience. And the performances? Goose bumps and tears! We will be recommending the Emil Dale school to anyone who will listen. Blown away!

User

When I first found out about Emil Dale Academy it was rather new, and I went there for a few sessions and loved it so much! But unfortunately I couldn’t carry on. Then I moved to Stevenage and almost immediately went straight back to it! I enjoy attending EDA every Sunday so so so much it’s amazing I went to see the full time college students perform in Sweeney Todd not long ago and the level of professionalism was phenomenal. West End standard. So professional. I had to go back and see Legally blonde, of course. I went to see it on opening night and it was so amazing that I went to see the other cast this afternoon, and I can honestly say If I could watch it again and again and again I would! Obviously I would adore attending this wonderful place full time one day... when my time is right! I support EDA so much and I think the world of everything they do. If you ever get a chance to pop down to the factory and watch a production, you won’t regret it. One day I hope to attend EDA full time and I believe anyone who does should be so proud of themselves. Well done to the cast of Legally Blonde and Sweeney Todd (and Thoroughly Modern Millie, although I unfortunately couldn’t attend) you are all wonderful and insanely talented people

Went to watch my niece and an amazing cast in Hairspray last night and wow ! Unbelievably professional, polished, talented, entertaining and full of energy - what a great night and we are blaming the hairspray for getting in our eyes causing us to shed a tear ! Extremely proud of how hard everyone works to put on such a show, well done !

User

Went to evening performance last night and was swept back to the French Revolution. Fantastic performances from all the cast, great set, wonderful band - all in all a lovely evening. To any that are going today - don't wear mascara and take tissues - they will be needed at the end !!Well done everyone

Watched the production of Hairspray at the Factory Warehouse in Hitchin last night...my first visit, certainly not my last!! Was blown away by the highly talented performers from the Emil Dale Acadamy, want a fantastic, diverse group, absolutely loved them!

Must commend the whole set up there, from the ground team looking after us, above and beyond, so courteous and polite, extremely helpful, what a fantastic experience.

The after party, such a treat meeting some of the cast, what a lovely, enthusiastic bunch they were, the acadamy should be proud!

Looking forward to my next visit, huge thank you to all involved!! :) ♡

This school is incredible. The training you receive at EDSA is beyond outstanding (trust me I've been to them all)! You are trained by actual professionals in the industry. EDSA give's you the key to develop into a good enough performer to further your training to become a professional in the industry. If you have talent within performing arts, I promise you this is the school for you!

User

There's no doubt in my mind that this is the best training at this level in the South East and in the most welcoming theatre family. My daughters both thrive here. We looked at loads of drama schools and we knew that EDSA was right from the moment we walked through the door. And EDA has provided the perfect next step.

Our second visit to Emil Dales. Last time Greese, this time Hairspray. Last night 20.5.17 was once again, absolutely outstanding. These performers are top quality. They always put in 110%. Beautiful, powerful voices & dance moves to die for. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Very highly recommend seeing one of there performances. Can't wait to come again. Xx

My 9 year old daughter has attended EDA since she was 6, she adores it. The passion shines out of every member of the team and they are so lovely and encouraging with all the kids. Its done wonders for my daughters self confidence and Sunday is definitely her favourite day of the week.

The shows that EDA put on are amazing, so so professional. We are incredibly lucky to have such an outstanding performing arts school in Hitchin

My 16 year old son attended one of Emil Dales workshops yesterday, he loved it, he was over the moon to meet Oakes and members of the cast from Hamilton. It has made him realise he needs to attend this type of academy to fast track his acting and singing career, oh and brush up on his dancing skills! Many thanks to Oakes and everyone at Emil Dale Studios for giving my son a brilliant days experience that could change his life 😊

User

Just seen a brilliant performance of Legally Blonde. A wonderful team - great to see so much talent and supportive staff 😊

User

Just got in after seeing "Hairspray" with my husband. When we left the house we were both a bit tired after a long old week at work. When we left - wow! We were both as high as kites after a hugely energetic, superbly entertaining and polished performance of one of our favourite musicals. Thank you to all the cast, crew and front of house for a terrific show which would not only easily fit into the West End, but also surpass some of the stale, overpriced productions to be found there. Our only regrets are that we missed your production of "Les Mis", and that we don't have tickets for tomorrow night! Thank you one and all, you can't stop the beat

User

Honestly the most incredible place I have been to in my life it really does offer something special outstanding training that cannot be beaten the atmosphere is insane never seen members develop so quickly outstanding teachers shows members highly recommend to anyone interested in the arts

User

Hairspray!!! Fantastic show of none stop fabulous performances, talent in abundance. The energy and buzz from beginning to end was incredible. All the cast and team should be so proud, big congratulations to all but particular mention for Georgina Onourah, what a voice, just wow!!!

User

Finally found a place my son comes out of feeling both inspired and worked, and we've tried a lot of places! Professional, inspiring and a great atmosphere.

User

Amazing show (Les Miserables) Everyone who starred in it was fantastic. Loved Eponine (Ellie Stevens) what a beautiful voice! Great place, very impressed how the show was performed so all could see everything that was going on. Well done to all!

User

All i can say after seeing Les Mis is........Wow! A truly wonderful show performed brilliantly by the cast. Their voices were quite outstanding together with their performances made this a not miss show. Extremely proud of my son ( Thernandier) and all the cast. Amazing!

Amazing show (Les Miserables) Everyone who starred in it was fantastic. Loved Eponine (Ellie Stevens) what a beautiful voice! Great place, very impressed how the show was performed so all could see everything that was going on. Well done to all!

All i can say after seeing Les Mis is........Wow! A truly wonderful show performed brilliantly by the cast. Their voices were quite outstanding together with their performances made this a not miss show. Extremely proud of my son ( Thernandier) and all the cast. Amazing!

Blown away!

The best!!!!

Xx

Our daughter auditioned last week and fell in love with the place immediately as did I, Today she has received an offer of a place on the weekend school and she cant wait to start. Everyone there was so friendly and welcoming. Thank you Emil and the team !
