Fresh out of the kiln! Re clothe these saucy senoritas with a bunch of ๐, a crunchy summer salad or a very happy bar of soap. All available!
โOn Soay Sound, St Kildaโ Norman Ackroyd ~ My happiest place ~ Who needs coffee when you have an etching like this to spring you out of bed and remind you of so many merry memories. The #serpentine will have to do for now!
Etching is such a wonderful technique. Itโs a mystery. And a lot of the time the result is out of your control. This was one of the first etchings I created for SOAK. Etched from a drawing I did bobbing around in a bath in #kingscross pre one of many heavenly porridge breakfasts with @lauradiggens7 Happy days! ๐พโ๏ธ๐ฟ
These etchings are from โSOAKโ my first solo exhibition last year. It offered a glimpse into a state we can all identify with, but so rarely reflect on - the unfettered joy of real nudity. The PV of SOAK was the first time I felt a true artist. Gone were the insecurities and embarrassment, I had worked the hardest I had ever worked and this was the result. My work was hanging high for all to see and comment on and for the first time this didnโt worry me, all I felt was pride and effervescent excitement. The etchings are framed and mounted and looking for a home. ๐๐ป @ London, United Kingdom
One of the most wonderful models Iโve been lucky enough to paint. Absolute ๐ซ. Looking forward to many more sessions to come!
Soil and ๐ฅ on Canvas ~ 74cm x 62cm. Itโs fascinating to see how the egg/soil medium works on different surfaces. Iโm enjoying playing with different brush strokes. For me thatโs what make #marlenedumas work so compelling. Hence working the bleeding effect alongside the more defined details. Good old stretch for a Wednesday morning. ๐คธ๐ผโโ๏ธ
Dreaming of โฒ๏ธ New plates, serving dishes and bowls heading to the kiln. This chap will hopefully come out a deep navy with white details. ๐ฅโs! The excitement of a firing never gets old. ๐๐ป
๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธ Beautiful natural marbling, just like skin! Soil, kindly donated by Table Mountain and ๐ฅ yolk from a very happy, maggot fed Capetonian ๐
Itโs going to be a good day ๐๐ป Watercolour on Paper ~ 84cm x 60cm
Sunrise mountain hikes have been replaced with bounding through golden corn fields after 2 sprightly spaniels. England in summer sure is pretty. ๐พ Throwback to #robbenisland seen from #lionshead on a crisp winter morning in Cape Town.
From a studio full of paintings, thoughts and experiments comes one gem that puts a smile on my face and is the catalyst for change within my work. This is that painting. The models relaxed, lounging pose punches through the background whilst the viewers eyeโs automatically create a structure below her - the white paper therefore becomes as much part of the painting as the marks of soil and egg.
That feeling of a breeze through your fingers, fresh grass between your toes and the sun warming your bare back ๐๐ป
Dreads and watercolour go together like marmite on a buttery crumpet. Soil (from Table Mountain), ๐ฅ and watercolour on paper. @ Eastside Studios
Whilst the others were craning their heads back to ogle at the most insane waterfall cascading down above us...My attention was fixed on the ground. These beautiful boulders have been pummelled and pound for years gone by and this is just how they are. In my absolute element - the colours, the textures and the fact that nature is nailing it. Crazy girl with a fixation of rocks.
Namibian soil, ๐ฅ , watercolour and a fantastically beautiful model. It just shows that if you donโt put yourself out there and ask then the answer will always be no. Ask!

Studio feet. An artwork in themselves. Conscious uncoupling sure is tough ๐ ๐ ๐
