A cracking night at this year's "Annual Egg Dump Championship" with winner "Big Bad Ben" taking the highly coveted trophy for a full years bragging rights! A big thank you to all that came along and helped raise £220 for village hall funds!

What an absolutely brilliant wee pub, the owner let us in to use the facilities & have a wee coffee before heading back on out on our travels & he wasn't even open...he was cleaning the lines! Happy 1st Birthday party we will be back for sure top notch service �

What a hidden gem!

The welcome was second to none and nothing was too much trouble.

Food was reasonably priced, home made and superb. What else can be said??

We visited with our two boys and loved it. Lovely cosy atmosphere and absolutely gorgeous home cooked food. I had the lasagne and it was amazing!!

Visiting lake's on holiday for a week away staying at nearby snittlegarth farm, we wanted somewhere with character that didn't mind us in walking gear. staff very freindly good sized portions and quality of food was very good although menu was very limited but it's only a small local pub. We walked the 1.5 miles there and back and even the dog was welcome!

Very nice pub an welcoming staff and the accommodation upstairs is brilliant would defo recommend a stay �

The Friday night curry is to be highly recommended. Between the nine of us we had every curry on the menu and all agreed they were excellent. Thanks for the brilliant food, friendly service and hospitality

Such a welcoming pub, gorgeous open fire with fabulous food- lovely Cumbrian community spirit.

Staying in the Lake District for a weeks holiday and found this lovely pub after we had to turn back from our hill walk due to the extreme weather. It was a Sunday so we both had a Sunday roast. Delicious!!! Staff and chef were really friendly and the pub is dog friendly too which was great for our two labs. So good we went back for a meal the night before we returned home.

Last minute break in the lakes. Stopped by Emily's Black Lion for dinner this evening. Wow! Huge portions, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Staff and locals very friendly and welcoming.

Fantastic & family friendly pub with amazing food (best lasagne I've ever tasted) and very welcoming staff. Super accommodation above the pub in the apartments that were immaculate, very well equipped & extremely comfortable. The views from the apartments are fab too. We all loved it! Thanks so much to Mark & Emma who own the pub for your hospitality. Highly recommended visiting and staying over.

It is lovely to be back in the pub and it is looking so good. We're looking forward to a glass or two on New Year's Eve to wish The Black Lion a successful 2016.

Had Sunday lunch , lovely home cooked food massive portion sizes andmy wife was offers a Yorkshire Pudding with her steak pie , much to her delight, great staff and good beer . A great country pub ,highly recommended .
