Although Emma trained as a chef at Colchester Institute her passion for food came from her Mum, her first mentor and best friend who taught her the basics of home cooking. Emma’s Mum was not afraid to reach beyond the norms when cooking with fresh ingredients and always looked to be different and diverse. The Kedgeree on the menu was a firm favourite of Emma’s when growing up and now evolved into one of the most popular dishes at Emma's Kitchen Cafe.

Emma’s Kitchen is a family affair with Emma’s daughter Laura effortlessly running the front of house and Emma’s Dad John, who can be bribed with a bowl of soup to tackle the endless washing up. Emma has transformed the menu to encompass a great breakfast and a varied lunch menu with daily specials All items on the menu are cooked in Emma’s Kitchen and Emma’s dedicates time sourcing all ingredients locally.
