EPNAVCO’s Befriending Scheme is a FREE service in the Ellesmere Port area providing companionship to elderly residents.

Loneliness and social isolation have a major impact on the quality and length of life of older people. It contributes to depression, poor sleep, fatigue, worsened mental abilities, and heart conditions. Unbelievably, loneliness and isolation can be as detrimental to one’s health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day (statistic from Campaign to End Loneliness).

All Volunteer Befrienders are trained, given DBS checks and then placed with someone close to their homes to encourage greater community spirit in Ellesmere Port and surrounding areas.

Become a Volunteer Befriender for a minimum of an hour a week and have a major impact on the safety and quality of another person.
