About Epsrc Sensor Cdt, University Of Cambridge

The CDT in Sensor Technologies is in direct response to an identified training need articulated by major UK industries, SMEs and the academic sector. The aim is to deliver an interdisciplinary, research focused, training programme to outstanding students, ranging all the way from physical concepts of sensing, interpreting and managing sensory data, to application-focused sensor development. Students will explore the state-of-the-art in sensor technology (e. g. MEMS, optics, lab-on-chip, etc. ), in sensor middleware (e. g. sensor networking, systems development, signal processing, etc. ), and in sensor end use (healthcare, security, industrial etc. ) supported by leading experts in academia and industry. The CBS-CDT is supported by world leading expertise and infrastructure from 20 participating departments across the University, and from a consortium of leading sensor industries, ranging from SMEs to globally operating corporations. There is a strong emphasis on team-driven research and peer-to-peer learning, and the student cohorts will be supported by a mix of academic and industrial mentors, with team-building and leadership-skills development being at the heart of the programme.
