Yesterday was my first visit to the Epstein.

The long walk up the stairs and the slightly shabby toilets were soon forgotten once I got into the auditorium. A great performance space, used imaginatively by the cast of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Daniel Taylor Productions were faithful to the spirit of Shakespeare's script. The comic timing was superb. James Templeton's Puck was supremely energetic and mischievous. The Rude Mechanicals almost stole the show, with Thomas Casson's portrayal of the wall being one of the highlights of my evening.

The cast did an amazing job and while it may well have been the Epstein's first Shakespearean production, I sincerely hope it won't be the last. The Bard would surely have been applauding loudly.

Congratulations and thank you. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Wizard of Oz production last night was brilliant , cast and script hilarious .๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ๏ฟฝ

Here's hoping that the Peter Pan panto is as just as good. Finishing the night watching the Halloween lantern parade was the icing on the cake for the kids.

Lovely theatre , staff most helpful and welcoming.

What an absolute pleasure it was to attend the first production of Liver Birds Flying Home at the @EpsteinTheatre โ€“ the exclusive concert presentation of the new musical set to hit Liverpool in October.

One never really knows what to expect on opening night of a new musical. We were greeted by a narrator who explained the small cast of five would be holding their scripts; there was to be no set or back drop; no costume changes.

How then, was it so easy to be instantly and fully submerged into this most wonderful and nostalgic journey through the decades, from 1970s Beryl and Sandra, to present day life โ€“ what did ever become of the infamous Liver Birds?

It was a sell-out audience, and all around me people couldnโ€™t help but share their excitement and anticipation. As the play went on, the couple behind me couldnโ€™t help but join in on the memories and sentimentality.

The audience was swept onto the streets of Liverpool by the most wonderful and intimate of casts, who all powerfully projected such raw talent from this small stage. Along with original and delightful musical scores, the audience was effortlessly sucked into the story almost as if the Liver Birds had never left their living rooms all those years back.

@LesleyMolony played Beryl in the present day and instantly the crowd were knocked out by her remarkable singing voice. Her natural ability to offer us such emotion through facial expression and varying tone, whilst singing so beautifully, effortlessly communicated to the audience Berylโ€™s story in the most graceful of ways. I was most certainly not the only one who shed a tear in one particular scene which will remain unspoilt.

Lesley held herself with a confidence and grandeur that was impeccably supported by younger Beryl, played by Julie Atherton โ€“ an energetic, fire cracker living in the moment portraying the exciting 1970s.

Despite only having spent 9 days together rehearsing, the whole cast evidently shared a bond which shone through in their performances. It is exciting to wonder how much more of an emotional and powerful this story will be when it comes to the long anticipated shows in October.

Went to see Midsummer Nights Dream last night (26/4/17) and had a fantastic time.

The Epstein is a glorious building, full of charm and character, though if you've never been before, prepare yourself for a trek up a spiral staircase.

The waiting hall can get pretty full prior to the Theatre doors being open, however, the Theatre Hall itself is remarkably spacious and comfortable.

The show was performed brilliantly. James Templeton in particular shone in his role of Puck and was thoroughly engaging throughout the whole show.

A lovely jewel of a Theatre that is well worth a visit!

User

Watched The Salon tonight. It is without doubt the funniest thing we have watched in years. Fabulous device from the staff too. A great night out. Thank you

User

Very proud Nana our Granddaughter danced in her very first dance show. What a lovely theatre.

Staff were so friendly.

Great Atmosphere.

User

This was my first time here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely little theatre with lots of character. Definitely be going again.

User

The Epstein is a quaint old theatre that has had a revamp I think it should go back to its old name then the N(Neptune I think)above the stage would mean something again but just my opinion also I think the drinks were expensive ยฃ8for a pint and a bottle of bud there are plenty of stairs to get to the auditorium but there is a lift if you see the staff and The Tommy Cooper Show was superb and I would recommend it to anyone

User

Thank you to Rebekah and the team we had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Epstein Theatre on 27 May and it was an absolutely fantastic day.

They helped us organise the day from start to finish suggesting ideas to enhance how we wanted our wedding day. Such lovely personal touches to make it our special day.

Such a beautiful and unique venue which I'm sure we and all our guests will remember for a long time

Would definitely recommend

User

Really enjoyed my visit here to see Romeo & Juliet; however as a tourist here, the sign by the door saying the box office closed at 6 and the door being closed led to concerns about how to get in. Maybe clearer signage is needed?

Fabulous show and the theatre itself was lovely :)

User

My son & I really enjoyed todays performance of Jack & the Beanstalk! It was fun to watch, very entertaining! Loved Michael Chapman as always, so funny as the dame! Looking forward to next panto! ๏ฟฝ

User

Just loved John lennons banjo . A truly brilliant performance from a legendary cast. Sorry itโ€™s finished as would highly recommend all to go and see. Well done to all involved as set was brilliant too.

User

I won two tickets to see Red Skies through the Facebook competition, and I went last night with my Mum. The whole show was great!!. The cast were fantastic. Special mention to all the singers ! Meg, right from the off, was hysterical. And Maggie equally as funny ! That monologue near had me in tears though. My Mum absolutely loved it, knowing all the songs, the Liverpool references to streets and places. Then Lizzy and Bert stole the show for me !!Absolutely hilarious! Lizzy had us in stitches. And Bert reminded me so much of my Dad and how he used to be, the funny man, the Scouse Dad.

Would definitely recommend the show to anyone wanting some tear jerking moments, filled with funny Scouse humour and songs from the past ! Love the venue too !

User

Fantastic venue to work in. Really friendly staff!

Enjoyed my time so far lighting the Cheshire College South & West Dance Show.

Looking forward to the shows tomorrow!

User

Excellent customer care, my friend uses a walking stick. When we entered the theatre, we were taken to the lift, and at the end of the evening the wonderful staff member, appeared like magic, to take us back down to ground level. Fantastic! Thank you!๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿฅ‡

User

A blast, so funny the tears were streaming

If u miss this your mad

User

Went to see tribute act Fleetwood Bac last night band was good Christine Mcvie character v good just a shame seems there was a small amount of people who was v loud and behaving like in a pub some of there songs are quiet so v annoying and staff did nothing to solve the issue all for enjoying myself but no need for that ๏ฟฝ

User

Great theatre and great show, Matilda was performed by many really fantastic up and coming stars, well done Jacobxx

User

Just come back from our annual trip to the panto. Wasnโ€™t as good as itโ€™s been on all other occasions. It just seemed that there wasnโ€™t much of a story? Gutted that there was only one water pistol, and no climbing around the audience. The sound was bad too- couldnโ€™t hear the cast very well. Micheal Chapman, once again was brilliant.

Will return though, as I love this little theatre.
