Being made with natural fibre they are perfect to wear in the heat and are also flexible enough to roll and pack in your luggage. These are made by our friends in Ecuador and we are happy to have been trading fairly with them for many years now. The hats come complete with a pamphlet with instructions on how to care for the hat and a little info on the history of the...se hats. There are also cork strips for fine tuning. We took this photo a few years ago when we were lucky enough to celebrate New Years Eve in Ecuador.
The night was full of festivities where families danced, drank and dressed up. At midnight they bring out paper mache effigies which have been made using old clothes etc. These are then burnt in the middle of the road. This is a really important tradition in Ecuador and thier way of saying goodbye to the negative things of the past year and hello to a new year and new beginnings.
So heres wishing you all a Happy New Year and a wonderful 2020 !
