About Equal Lives

We are a user led disability rights organisation. We unite people of all ages who face disabling barriers in society.

Equal Lives Description

Equal Lives is a user led charity established for20 years and we have a wealth of experience in shaping services with the people who use them at the centre /heart.

We run many services supporting people with:
ŌĆó Advocacy
ŌĆó Welfare Benefits
ŌĆó Direct payments and personal budgets
(Children and Adults)
ŌĆó Planning and arranging care and support
ŌĆó Recruitment and employment
ŌĆó Payroll and supported accounts
ŌĆó NHS complaints - Advocacy
ŌĆó Appropriate Adults (for vulnerable people
detained in custody)
ŌĆó Managing money through money matters
(referral based)
ŌĆó Relevant Paid Persons Representative
(referral based)

We also run lots of activities around the county such as:
ŌĆó Drop-in sessions (regarding welfare
benefits)
ŌĆó Peer Support groups and sessions
ŌĆó Community projects

Ability Net IT Support at Home for Older People and People with Disabilities AbilityNet has a network of friendly disclosure checked ITCanHelp volunteers who can offer free computer support to older people and people with disabilities. You may have a problem with viruses, need some help installing broadband or be confused about updates or error messages. Our friendly, trustworthy volunteers have relevant IT skills and may be able to help with computer systems, laptops, tablet...s and even some smartphones. What can we help with? Our volunteers can help in all sorts of ways, including: ŌĆó choosing equipment to meet your particular needs, with suggestions on computer, adaptations, software or broadband ŌĆó helping install and set up new software, arranging settings and adjusting accessibility options ŌĆó diagnosing problems, malfunctions, viruses or software updates ŌĆó helping you get more from your computer, such as setting up emails, online shopping, video calls to friends, playing music or games. They can't provide free hardware or software and they will try to help you get the most from your computer ŌĆō and if they can't help you we can offer independent advice about your best options. FREE Emergency First Aid at Work Training Course for PA's
Equal Lives - 10th March 2020 09:45 - 16:00 Suffolk Independent Living - 12th March 2020 09:45 - 16:00
... This FREE 3 year qualification course is being run by Suffolk Independent Living (SIL), our Suffolk service provider. One day course for PA's will be held at the Equal Lives office in Framingham Pigot, on the tuesday and one in Ipswich on thursday.
It will be a comprehensive course and will be valid for 3 years.

As you are aware one of the campaigns that Equal Lives us undertaking this year is the "Making Transport Accessible" project. NCC have released their transport strategy fro 2020-2036, they are asking for feedback.

"Local Transport Plan Our transport plan describes the councilŌĆÖs strategy and policy framework for transport and is used as a guide for investment priorities as well as being considered by other agencies when determining their planning or delivery decisions.
We are currently refreshing our Local Transport Plan so that it covers the period 2020-2036.
We want the plan to reflect the views of local people and stakeholders and are therefore consulting on the key priorities from 13 January ŌĆō 28 February 2020."
