Sports massage therapy is the application of long recognised massage techniques applied to the horse for the purpose of relieving tension, muscle spasms and soreness, also increasing circulation, range of motion as well as improving stamina and overall performance.

I can work closely alongside your vet or trainer /s to develop a holistic approach to your horse's rehabilitation and help develop a complete management program for your horse.
As a practitioner I have developed a thorough understanding of the equine anatomy, including the interactions of bones, joints and muscles that are the basis of this proven physical & mental therapy that is the art of therapeutic and manipulative massage. A masseur looks at the horse as a whole & attempts to consider all the possible effects of any tension, while interpreting a horse’s reactions, attitudes & expressions.
If required I can conduct a full evaluation of the horse to determine how its confirmation and build may affect its performance, any abnormal muscular asymmetry or lameness can be noted at this stage. Ideally, and to your knowledge, a full history is taken of your horse and a basic check of dental health and shoeing is carried out as well as an examination of the horse’s saddle and tack. The horse is then assessed in hand or ridden in all 3 gaits if possible, both in a straight line and on circles.
I can also include an individual, bespoke, partnership programme detailing follow up stretches and exercises which will benefit your horses muscle development as well as ridden or in-hand training exercises to help you and your horses education development. Where necessary I may also recommended that the horses saddle fit, teeth or feet are checked by the respective specialist. As an horse owner myself of over 15 years, I have acquired in this time many contacts and connections of equine specialists UK wide, I can supply a list of tried and tested specialists that are proven by myself and other owners and /or proffesionals.
