Essence work with young women in London prisons and after their release back into the community: aiming to break the cycle of offending through holistic mentoring, pastoral support and innovative life skills courses.
Essence - Kahaila Description
We aim to equip women in prison and the community with the skills, character and confidence to realise their full potential and live a fruitful life when they are back in their communities.
Innovative 'MyLife' skills courses and mentoring sessions provide space to creatively reflect on their life choices and express themselves positively, while restorative justice sessions work on victim awareness and an understanding of the ripple effect of a criminal act.
We believe that a strong sense of identity and purpose will give these women the confidence, skills and drive they need to become positive contributors to society: to make a difference in their locality and the wider world.
