Had to return some bikes as we got let down on our storage. The store manager Robin was soooo helpful and friendly! Made what could of been a stressful experience really positive. Will definitely be buying our bikes from here again when our storage gets sorted...

Poor customer care unless you want to spend big money on a new bike. Plenty of other repair places in Brighton which cost a lot less too!

My road bike left Evans silver service without breaks working properly! Precisely, the front breaks were too tight, the back ones completely worn out. Thank you for not charging me for extra service and new break pads in the end. However, the member of Evans staff still try to argue with me that it is not their fault or something similar... Honestly, I didn't pay attention to his excuses because they were ridiculous. Would not recommend their service workshop to anyone.

Very good staff who really went out of their way to help set my bike up and even help show me how to clip in with cleats on the trainer. Some friends have had different experiences with other staff but mines been overall very positive.

The staff made a few big mistakes when we ordered in an electric bike. Their computer system seems too old for anyone to work. So many varied staff giving varied levels of service. The electric bike we bought now doesn't work 3 months after purchase. When trying to call through to discuss, no one answers the phone. Bad service indeed!

Evans is a chainstore so, I think, any annoying deals or policies are imposed by their Head Office.

I am reviewing the Brighton store though, who are generally very customer friendly. Most of the staff are knowledgeable and will go out of their way to help, and I have seen them have to deal with some very ill-mannered and rude customers in Brighton.

Their website is quite competitive and I've just found they do a price match if they are too expensive. You can order items to collect in-store and the speed of this is amazing.

They have helped me out a couple of times with mechanical issues and will make sure you don't ride your bike in any danger.

It's not a traditional local bike store but it is good at what it does.

I hope this counters those negative reviews that give one star and use lots of exclamation marks about their service.

Went to go buy a bike from Evans. Everything went smoothly and I found a bike I liked and sorted out a date to come and pick it up. A couple of days later I received a phone call saying that they did not have the bike I wanted in stock anymore and that they, if given permission, would replace it with a similar model from the same brand. Agreed to this. Went in to pick up new bike only to find they had replaced my bike with a model that was £100 more (without telling me). I asked if this extra price would be taken off as it was over my budget and they said no. I then found a similar bike that was the same model and price, but a different year, as the one I had ordered (why they didn't choose this one I don't know.) and scheduled for a pick up date.
Went there at the aforementioned date and time only to be told that it wasn't ready and could I come back the next day at midday? Agreed to this.
The next day I went back at about 4:30pm to be told that my bike STILL was not ready and could I come back in an hour. After that hour it was ready.
I honestly don't know why I kept on going back and I still kick myself a little for not making more of a fuss. Was told by a man who worked at an Independent bike shop that Evans has a high turnover of young, inexperienced staff members.
Since then, I have avoided Evans when I've needed anything bike related. There are better bikes shops in Brighton by far.

It's an Evans. Reasonable selection of kit, sometimes good stuff on the sale.

I recently bought a Pinnacle Arkose at Evans Brighton, and the service from the staff was really good – thanks to Joe and Eloise in particular. The setup of the bike was overall pretty good, although the indexing was slightly out on the gears, and there seems to be a slight issue with the way the break and gear cables are set up at the front. It seems to me this would be enough for some reviewers to give the shop one star, and for me, what is more important is that when I phoned them up, they said yes, just bring in immediately and we will sort it out for you. Ideally, of course, the bike would be perfectly set up, but I suppose the staff have to strike a balance between complying with the guarantee of having a bike ready in 24 hours and giving each one the time that would require. Evans sometimes gets criticised because it's not an independent bike shop, but the level of service that they have is genuinely impressive – I've never had an encounter with a staff member that has been anything other than courteous and helpful.
