Wish I could give no stars. Awful awful place. Had a bike serviced there once and had to return twice to get it even barely working. Thought I'd give it another go as maybe it had improved. You now have to drop your bike off in a 2 hour slot between 10 - 12, when nearly everyone is at work. After waiting for this appointment for weeks I rushed there to get it in but missed this ridiculous window and they wouldn't take the bike. Rude staff. Appalling customer service. Avoid at all costs.

Terrible experience, very bad customer service and ignorant mechanic.

Bought at Evans in crouch end a United bmx bike and after few months had a problem with it so brought it to them. They wanted to charge me £100 for repairing it, claimed they needed to order a part and it wasn't under warranty. Took the bike to Volt Bmx (official united stockists) in Dalston, and had a very professional service. The owner said it's a small part that needed replacing, costs £20 and also under warranty so had the bike fixed straight away and didn't need to pay.
Really recommend to stay away from this Evans branch!

About as useful as a tampon in a hurricane. Some staff are fantastic but the ones that are bad are the very worst of the worst. Had a bike in for 2 months, got a call to say it was ready and I picked it up in the exact same condition. Staff said they didn't know what they were doing with it.
Went in again today and asked them to adjust my break wire (a 2 minute job) they said there was no mechanic in and refused to even lend me the tool. What tools.

I have had the same experience as other callers: they don't answer the phone!!

Even tried customer service who couldn't get through. Phone just rings out.

Wish I hadn't arranged to collect my online order from this store. What do you do when you can't even speak to someone? Awful customer service.

Having avoided evans for years I thought I'd give this one a go as they had a specific product I was after. Well, nothing has changed. Rude arrogant staff that know everything better. Will be taking my business elsewhere

Don't usually review shops but felt compelled to given the shocking reviews.

I had my bike serviced today (booked online in advance). Excellent customer service and I'm very pleased with the quality of the service itself - my bike feels like new and my bike was ready to pick up the same day. Staff I spoke to when dropping off my bike, on the phone, and when picking up my bike were all helpful and polite.

I read some terrible reviews about Evans in Crouch End before shopping there and almost laughed them off. I then shopped there and it has been one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had. I have just been verbally assaulted by a man called Roy, he is utterly rude and hideous. After purchasing my bike online there was a catalogue of errors which led to a 3 week delay in me collecting my bike. Missing seats, bike not getting assembled, no one ever answering the phone etc etc. I shall never shop there again, and wish I hadn't given them my money. I would like to say there was one member of staff (I didn't get his name) who was "in training" he was polite and helpful.

TRULY EXEMPLARY SERVICE! I do not understand how there can be so many negative reviews as my experience has been quite the opposite! The staff are attentive, polite, knowledgeable & extremely helpful.
I was advised by Oscar & assisted by Mehmet who saw me struggling whilst trying to attach a bike rack I'd purchased and kindly did the job for me! He even greased by chain and checked that my gears were shifting smoothly, all without me asking & for no cost! If that's not bloody good service from excellent staff, I don't know what is!! Really nice people.
Anyway, don't judge this place from the negative reviews - check it out for yourself. I know I'll be back again repeatedly for sure.

Went to the Crouch end today and can honestly say I have dealt with the most rudest, most obnoxious, most miserable, most unhelpful manager you could ever meet in a store. This is not the first time too! His name is Roy...be warned! He is an embarrassment to Evans cycles and should not be a store manager. He made me wait for more than 30mins whilst he looked into my purchase I made for a pair of shorts that I wanted a refund for. I provided him the order receipt but still refused a refund as he wanted the refund receipts of the other items on the same order. Where does it state on Evans cycles this is required and what other retail company would ask for this. Does not make sence, complete utter nonsense. What has the different items on an order got to do with each other? A total mystery! He even had the cheek to ask my why I return so many things. Evans cycles has a return policy and if I am within the rights of that policy how dare he should make such a rude remark to a customer. My only star is for the other staff that work there like Oscar. They are good. It's a shame they are seen to hold such fear of him too. You can tell as their demeneare changes when Roy is around. They seem worried and scared. What is an awful environment to work in with a manager like that. If Evans cycles senior management or regional manager have any sense of good customer care and service they should investigate Roy and have him removed. Official complaint to be made to Evans cycles too. I spend £1000s on cycles and cycling equipment and there are many cycle retailers around as it is a very competitive market. I refuse to shop at Evans cycles until this rubbish manager is removed.

I just find them really flakey. Walk in and nobody knows how to serve you - you're there drifting with a cluster of others and trying to work out who's first. The idea that you have to *book* when you drop a bike in for repair is also hilarious - like they don't have room? And the bike I bought off them - 'affordable' though it was - has been consistently plain crap: prone to buckles, a mudguard that twisted up like a Kit Kat wrapper one day and requiring maintenance (for a casual commuter) than a mountain bike after a 70km hike. You tell them this and they nod and that's that. It's an incredibly complacent retailer. There's a reason why indie bike shops are booking - the mainstream is crap.

My friend and I went into the store with issues with our bicycles. We were assisted by Oscar, who was very helpful and friendly, as he sorted out our bicycles and explained the mechanics of our bicycles.
The store is definitely staffed by knowledgeable employees and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming. It's definitely the place to go to.

Having seen several negative reviews of this place, I was apprehensive to buy my new bike through this particular Evans, promising to write a good review if my experience turned out well. I'm pleased to say that the customer service was excellent. I had bought a bike through a different Evans retailer and took advantage of their 'Right Bike' scheme to replace my current bike. Very simple and easy, and they ordered my bike from the warehouse which I collected in a couple of days. Staff were very helpful with setting the new bike up, giving me tips as this is my first single speed bike. Overall very pleased, great local bike shop.
