Evans Cycles - Gateshead

I have always had a small hatred for bicycles but earlier this year I was looking for a way to keep fit and decided my hatred for bicycles was somewhat less of the hatred of the gym. I popped into Evans entirely on a whim as I was visiting Maplins next door just to enquire. I hadn't a clue what I wanted and honestly felt as though I was being a waste of time.

I spoke to a member of staff who talked me through their range of bikes and advised me what was best suited for what I wanted. They were very helpful and helped me choose a bike along with some gloves and a jacket.

I try to get out on a few evenings and it turns out cycling is pretty enjoyable. I've since returned to the store for a few accessories here and there and spoke to a few different members of staff and they all seem to be pretty helpful. I'd definitely recommend this store if you'd like to be less fat and pathetic like myself. It's a great step in the right direction.

Super service given by Nigel. In my first visit we spent more than an hour trying to find the best bike for myself. On my next visit with my son, he gave cycling lessons to my son and being helpful.

Evans has large collection and matching price if cheaper elsewhere, what do you want more.

Visiting the area. Headed in to Evans with a non-indexing chain set. 15 mins and a professional, courteous, efficient service later, I left with indexing sorted, headset tightened, and brakes recentered. Free. Thanks!

Terrible!!! I ordered a bike & Evans said it'll take a week, after 2 weeks I phoned up & I was told they'd ordered wrong size & it hadn't arrived! They then said I needed to go down to store to pay a bigger deposit to get bike & the price match. I went to store & manager said "It's all sorted & it'll be here on Monday". So today I went down excited to collect my Brand new Specialized Enduro & when they handed it over it had scratches on the forks, handlebars, wear marks on top tube & the cassette, chain & front chainring all blatantly worn!!! When I addressed this to the manager he said "Ah it must of been used as a test ride bike". I was Fuming that they hadn't told me beforehand on the phone or even when I was in store! My experience with Evans Cycles has been a total Farce & I will Not be shopping here ever again!

I'll now go & spend my £3000+ in an Honest and reliable bike shop!!!

Staff are spot on. Helped me out a few times now so a big thumbs up....in the past there has been a few numpties messing things up. They're gone so happy days 😉
