We're a company of experienced tutors and have completed both new specification exams (GCSE and A-Level), and old ones and so have plenty of practice when it comes to tackling all sorts of problems that exam papers offer! To us, defeating any tricky exam is a process of a few steps: Know the facts. This is the first and most obvious step in doing well. Whether it's a geography, physics, history or maths exam, factual recall is the basis of getting good marks. Apply the understanding. This unlocks the higher level grades for many subjects. This is often particularly important in sciences and tricky maths! Play the game. What do we mean?Exams to us represent not just a factual recall or knowledge application test, but a strategic challenge in which tactics, organisation and "smart", targeted revision is rewarded. All too many times we see people receive grades they were not happy with, despite their hard work and continued "grind", starting long before exam season. Strategically approaching exams with a keen eye to exam technique and ‘playing the mark scheme' has always helped us get the best results possible for ourselves, and our students. Coursework is a great way of doing that in our opinion. It is an often overlooked and disregarded part of the exam process, but with just a little extra attention and a close eye on the mark scheme, getting 95% on the coursework is actually not too difficult. A good coursework grade can give so much extra breathing room for the actual papers, which usually give people the most stress and anxiety!
