Exe Valley Fishery

Exe Valley Fishery is a spectacular small stillwater Trout fishery located in Somerset, a short distance from the world famous Exmoor National Park.

Exe Valley Fishery is one of the oldest and best loved small Stillwater Trout fisheries in the UK, first opening its doors to sport fishing in 1968.

Based just a short distance from the world famous Exmoor National Park we have gained a reputation for providing exciting fly fishing in beautiful surroundings.

Despite our close proximity to such wonderful countryside we are easily reached from Junction 27 of the M5, 8 miles from Tiverton and less than 45 minutes from Taunton or Exeter.

The venue consisting of two well maintained, river fed lakes is managed by the resident fly fishing instructor Nick Hart and his wife Sue.

Anchor Lake offers fly fishing in 2 acres of water for hard fighting Trout to double figures and its little brother Lobbs, is heavily stocked with fish that are the perfect size for turning into a healthy lunch or dinner.

We stock both Anchor & Lobbs Lake on a regular (often 2 - 3 times per week) basis with triploid Trout reared on site in the cool waters of the River Barle, transforming them into hard fighting specimens that respond well to a variety of methods. Lures work of course, but if you like top of the water sport and a more natural approach to your fishing then Exe Valley is definitely for you with abundant hatches occurring throughout the year.

Exe Valley is the perfect place to start fly fishing and during the last 40 years generations of families have done so, experiencing the thrill of landing their first Trout while under the watchful eye of a proud parent . . . or grandparent.

To continue the tradition we offer parent & child permits, hire tackle and it is also possible to join one of our popular fly fishing courses.

Other facilities include a tackle shop, ample car parking, clean toilets and plenty of areas to enjoy a picnic at the waters edge.
