Explorers Daycare Description

Explorers day-care is set just of the A68 in a stunning rural area, what was once a dairy parlour for farmers, then changing hands in 2003 to be turned into an office build, then to be handed to us to start a new venture as a nursery provider to create many special memories for both children and families both indoors and out.
Attached to the nursery is 150 acres of land for children to explore and investigate wildlife and their surroundings, as well as working alongside local farmers to gain knowledge and understanding of the world.
We are very passionate about our outdoor learning and feel children should be free to access the outdoors come rain or shine. All we ask is for parents to supply a spare set of clothes as it can sometimes get a little messy.

However away from the muddy fields just outside our nursery we are currently developing an outdoor space to focus in on children's gross motor skills and physical development. In this area we plan to have a mudd kitchen, a story cottage, and some chickens for children to take responsibility of with regards to feeding, bedding and collection of eggs. So their is plenty space for everyone and much fun to go around.

Moving on to the indoor space : we have many multifunctional rooms, the first being a baby room for ages 0-1 years, in here we have taken a heuristic approach to learning and have used the space wisely to create a home form home environment. In this room children are based in a 1: 3 ration. Each child will have an assigned key worker which they will create many memories with and these will be displayed in there beautiful learning journeys.

Our Second room opened in October 2014 and has recently in June 2015 had another revamp. This is our stunning twos room, this room allows a large space for them to express themselves in many areas. We have spaces available for funded twos as well as private. The twos Room gives our Explorers the same opportunities as the pre school just on a smaller scale this makes transition between rooms smooth.

The Third room is a Pre school room providing many areas linked to the EYFS. In here we are looking at learning children many life skills, we have a fabulous play dough station where children can create their own play dough following recipe cards, this enabling them to choose colour, glitter and scents. Also with in this room we have a small world area, construction, paint station, glue station, mark making area, sand and water, a home corners, a book area, a investigation area Within this room our main focus is preparation for school readiness and allowing children to be children and giving them opportunities that will encourage later life skills. We will ensure we have established links with every school in the surrounding area to ensure that transition is as smooth as it can be for both the child and the parent or carer.

Our 4rd room is a kitchen dining room, here at explorers we believe that meal times are special times and that children learn from each other, we will encourage socialisation among children and help children learn table manners without even realising they are doing it. Children at explorers will have freshly prepared lunch and dinners made by our onsite cook. We will offer an range of different tastes from around the world and encourage children to have a little try. We will also support babies who are going through the weaning stage and information share with parents to create a meal plan for each individual. We will also cater for children with any special dietary requirements and any known allergies to ensure that the whole family is happy with the service we are offering.

We are currently developing an after school and holiday club where we are planning to work with local schools to provide transport both too and from the service. Details of this service will be available as soon as possible, however if you have any questions or queries with regards to this, please do not hesitate to contact Jenna Whitaker .

For all we have described our setting to the best of our ability we strongly advise parents and carers to come and have a look around our setting for the full experience. We have an open door policy. Many thanks for you support.
