Meet the professors of The Priddy Hard School of Magical Defence at our fantastic Halloween event!
26th & 27th October. Book tickets and find out more: https://bit.ly/2N4wohr
In the mid 18th century, it was believed that powerful sorcerers were being employed to attack England using magic and dark arts. The mysterious Jane Priddy took it upon herself to open a secret school to train gifted individuals in a very magical kind of defence. After centuries of closure, Jane Priddy's secret school will be opening its door once more this Halloween, giving little witches and wizards the chance to all kinds of magic and spells - dragons, ghosts and zombies, as well as using herbs to mix magic potions, casting spells, mind-reading and, of course, broomstick flying.

The venue is amazing and we knew as soon we walked in that this was the one. The atmosphere is great and the team that were on hand were brilliant from day 1. Nothing was too much trouble and any questions were answered quickly and professionally. Siobhan was amazing on the day too making sure everyone was in the right place at the right time. Thank you for an amazing day.

The British Museum of Naval Firepower On the former Royal Naval Armaments Depot at Priddy's Hard, in Gosport, Hampshire, England. This is just one part of the National Museum of the Royal Navy.

Allow 1-3 hours for your visit depending on what time you spend reading the details of the many different exhibits.

Onsite free car parking.

Suitable for all ages and for those with limited mobility with the only exception of the submarine and the water ferry due to the steps and confined spaces.

Munitions from the 18th Century to the present day. Small arms, to missiles and missile launching systems, as well as complete gun turrets.

The weapons cover all aspects of Naval warfare from surface to surface, air to surface, surface to air and sub-surface weapons systems, including mines and torpedoes.

The museum has a waterside coffee shop which looks out on to the original 18th-century camber dock.

The cafe is clean and airy selling the foods and drink you normally expect, coffee milkshakes cake and biscuits. No hot food.

One of the highest blessings in being considered by many to be amongst the best Caribbean musical entertainers in the UK, is the opportunity to be invited to perform at the very best and unique venues around the country. I can honestly say that this venue sits within that category. (wonderful in-house team) - A pleasure to perform here and very much highly recommended... Gary (Steelasophical Steel Band)

User

I have worked with the staff here. They are Friendly and professional and more accommodating than any other venue I have been to. They have a huge reception area and the sunsets there amazing! I look forward to going back and shooting there again!

User

Huge thank you to Hannah and her colleagues for making everyone so welcome tonight. The conference room was perfect for our meeting and everything we needed was laid out for us. We will definitely be back. Thanks again.

User

Had my first visit here today, with my friend and 5 kids of varying ages 2-10. All of them loved it, as did my friend and I. Museum is very well thought out and put together. Lots of bits to keep the kids happy. Water bus service that transports over from the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is a really great bonus too. Throughly recommend!

User

Fireworks- Cant wait for this year after such a superb evening last year. What a show :-) bringing the grandparents this year.

Day out with our daughter was superb- she loved the mouse trail and we were able to look around knowing she was completely entertained.

Now having done the escape room as well, I'm so impressed at what this museum can offer for all the age groups, family dynamics and interests.

User

Fascinating... so many amazing exhibits, so much history, very well laid out museum, with some great interactive things for the kids...just wish I had longer to look around so I'll have to come back again soon!

User

Brilliant day out. Suitable for all ages

User

Been here twice now and will definitely come back again. We find it very interesting not only the history of the explosives but also the history of the site with all the old buildings. My husband is a former Royal Navy weapons engineer and he loves coming to this museum to reminisce as outside there are a couple of the guns he worked on during his time in the Navy.

User

A brief visit mainly to view Queen Elizabeth. Lovely place, very quiet in the morning sun, having a coffee from the cafe. Plenty to see. Can't recommend it too highly.

User

1st time visit yesterday 10.8.17 Fantastic museum , we enjoyed every single second of it . 1st class staff including the cafe team. Brilliant for all ages.

Highly recommend .

Also recommend a season Ticket for the Dock Yard.

User

We had a good educational visit , we thought we were going to be trapped on the island for 2 hours as the boat back wasn't due for 2 hours , but instead we had a good time that went really quickly , lots to see and read and we had a picnic outside the lovely friendly cafe on the bench and bought a delicious cake and mug of tea , hot chocolate and a coffee to have after our picnic , very recommended

User

Very interesting and informative especially after being over to the Historic Dock Yard and Submarine museum first.

Wouldn't pay the one off cost to go but with an annual ticket for them all I will definitely be returning.

User

Second time we’ve been , amazing place made all the better for the Polaris exhibit as my Father in law help design and build ......Only have one gripe , when I asked for a day ticket for the water taxi and the museum I was told I had to buy a yearly ticket for the explosions , the Submarine museum and the water taxi ...the price I feel was too expensive as I probably wouldn’t return in the year it was bit ridiculous, I only wanted a day ticket..!!!

User

My trip to the Explosion Museum was interesting & enjoyable ~ just a shame the magazine room was not available due to a wedding taking place (the bride did look lovely though!) Luckily I have Portsmouth Dockyard 1 year membership so maybe I will go again next week. Anyway, def worth a visit if you haven't already.

User

Fascinating and informative place and suitable for any weather. If you're going to be in the area for a few days I'd recommend the annual pass which gives access to most of the naval museums in Portsmouth and Gosport. There is also a museum ferry joining up the museums although I understand it doesn't run in the winter.

User

Excellent collection of guns, mines, torpedoes, bombs, depth charges. There is a lot to read too although some of it is poorly lit and quite small. The café is recommended as is the view from the terrace across to the HM Dockyard. There is an activity for children which disappointingly uses superheroes from the USA rather than our own British heroes from history.

User

It's was a great day for it. I find it so informative. I didn't mind the long walk from Gosport ferry. I like the restaurant / café. The only thing I found so unfair was when we went to the most important place but there's people getting ready the place for a wedding. We've been told that we were Not supposed to be there and asked us if we noticed the barrier (well we didn't). Then the worst part was telling us to come back another day. I said to the woman, "no way". We paid a lot of money coming to see the place. The cost of travelling. So we were so annoyed. Didn't tell us front the front desk about it. It would be ok if they do the wedding decorations on a day when its Closed. Or closed it for a day like that. Saves us the trip.
