Meet Mohamed, - Our surgeons removed a large tumour from Mohamed's face on our latest mission to Ethiopia. The operation took many hours, he then had a second operation a few days later to re-build the roof of his mouth using a free rectal muscle harvest. - This large mid-face tumour was stopping him from eating and drinking. Mohamed only had a matter of months left before the tumour would stop him from breathing, subsequently this would lead to his death.... - Mohamed still has some healing to do, but he can now start to live a normal life thanks to our amazing medical volunteers.

We’re almost packed and ready for our May 2019 mission. - Do you know anyone in Ethiopia that needs our help? We’re arriving on the 11th of May to help with facial deformities. - You might remember Hulu, she came to us in 2017 and our skilled surgeons managed to remove her tumour and build her a new jaw.... You can hardly recognise her now! - We only offer facial surgery. We do not offer surgery on cleft lips, palate or burns. - Like and share this post for us so we can help more people like Hulu.

Working with Facing Africa you realise how loud facial expressions really are. It is amazing to witness emotions appear on our patients' faces when they can finally smile. This is Hanna, before and after her surgery in May 2018.

Bedre, one of the amazing October'18 transformations! Needless to say how delighted we all were to finally see her smile! To support Facing Africa's life changing surgical work in Ethiopia donate following this link to our website http://www.facingafrica.org/get-involved/ donate-now/
