Fairway, one of Devon's friendliest Sea Schools, is situated in Torquay, South Devon and offers RYA courses, both theory and practical. Our practical courses are carried out in conjunction with our business partners, Dartmouth Yacht Charters (DYC). The school is an RYA Recognised Training Centre for shore-based tuition, with courses held mainly at the Kingswear classroom. We are approved trainers for the local Harbour Authority and we also carry out power boat training to new boat owners for South Devon boat sales companies.
The courses are tailored to suit all abilities and skill levels, from complete beginners to prospective Yachtmasters. Our instructors are RYA Yachtmaster or Cruising Instructors with first aid certification. Enjoyment is an integral part of any course we provide and our instructors build it in with the required teaching elements to achieve the desired results.
The safety of our students is paramount, so they are under the supervision of qualified RYA Instructors at all times. We work on a maximum ratio of 4: 1 for practical courses on well-found RYA /MCA coded boats. We also offer 1 or 2 day ‘Is this for me’ hands-on cruises, where you can experience the fun and exhilaration of going to sea in an offshore cruising yacht. This will go a long way to kick-starting a potential sailing career.
We are very happy to discuss any special requirements that do not fit into our formal training syllabus and as part of our service can arrange corporate sailing and team building days.
