It was not easy to write this account of a father's failings, but it is only by being open like this that we can help other families. Join us on LinkedIn to read our latest articles. https://www.linkedin.com/company/familyme ntalwealth https://www.linkedin.com/…/what-kind-fa ther-am-i-how-could…/

"Evidence-based treatments for mild to moderate levels of mental health disorder can be delivered by trained non-clinical staff with adequate supervision, leading to outcomes comparable to those of trained therapists" On this #WorldMentalHealthDay it's worth reflecting on this quote from the Government's recent Green Paper. This is why we are helping #families to invest in their #mentalhealth and #wellbeing. https://www.gov.uk/…/quick-read-transfo rming-children-and-y…

We don't usually post about our speaking engagements for confidentiality reasons. But do want to highlight a wonderful time we had yesterday in a school in Dorset presenting our 'From Risk to Resilience' to pupils, parents and staff. (https://familymentalwealth.com/schools). We had the privilege of being joined by Dorset Eating Disorders Service and do want to highlight their self-referral and parental-referral scheme. It was wonderful to be able to tell parents how, if they are worried about their child, they can self-refer and receive prompt help. What a wonderful example of good practice they are. https://www.dorsethealthcare.nhs.uk/…/m ent…/eating-disorders

We really appreciate our partnerships with academic and clinical organisations. Today Nick had another great meeting at the University of Southampton planning the evaluation of a new resource we are creating to help people spot the signs of an eating disorder, because early intervention is so important to produce a full and sustained recovery.

Great to be back in The Romsey School who are working with us in creating a resource for schools to help pupils Spot the Signs of eating disorders, and know how to respond appropriately. Lizzie was joined by Ciara Devine, a Research Assistant from Southampton University Psychology Department who are preparing a research study to evaluate the effectiveness of the resource once it is launched. We love all the wonderful partnerships that are enabling Family Mental Wealth to help so many people through clinically-sound evidence-based resources.

Nick and Lizzie had a very productive time with Oxford University Press this morning discussing potential publishing projects to improve knowledge about eating disorders amongst health professionals and teachers.

Just received a booking to speak to staff in a large merchant bank in the city of London. Looking forward to serving many other companies in this way (https://familymentalwealth.com/companies )... "Dr Elizabeth McNaught is a medical doctor with lived experience of eating disorders, having nearly died from anorexia at the age of 14. Nick Pollard is Dr McNaught’s father who, despite his own undergraduate and postgraduate studies in cognitive psychology, did not initially recognise and respond appropriately to his own daughter’s illness. Together, they are passionate about sharing their father-daughter story, and consequent professional and personal insights, in order to help all parents invest in their own family’s mental health and wellbeing."

We will soon be announcing an exciting new project we are developing with Beat, the UK eating disorder charity, and many other organisations who are partnering with us. See this message from our medical director Dr Elizabeth McNaught: "As a former pupil I am delighted to be back in The Romsey School to create a new resource which will help pupils, teachers and families across the world to spot the signs of an eating disorder and know how to respond appropriately. Medical evidence clearly shows that early intervention is valuable for a full and sustained recovery; so I am delighted to be working with current pupils in my old school to produce this important resource."

“For the majority of my recovery from #anorexia, I was at a healthy weight, but that didn’t mean that my thoughts were any healthier then when I looked very ill. A healthy weight doesn’t mean someone no longer wrestles with an #eatingdisorder.” Based on the responses on www.twitter.com/DrEMcNaught to these insightful reflections from our Medical Director, Dr Elizabeth McNaught (Lizzie), they seem to be helping people and their families in the journey through recovery from an eating disorder. So we need your help… We are considering the possibility of publishing a book of ‘100 Thoughts’ with space for the reader to journal their own reflections on each one. What do you think about this possibility? Would it be helpful to you or those family members you are supporting through #recovery?
